Re: Porter airlines ( hired less than 1000tt ? ?)

If that's what they have to do to not pay more, then that's what they'll do. Why slam them? Their starting pay is at least higher than the other regionals. They're still fighting to keep the industry substandard. Porter is included in that ridiculous "airline union" fighting against duty regs with ...

Re: No guaranteed flow through?

I think there is truth in what the interviewer said. With two ALPA CBA's to negotiate, everything is on the table. While I tend to disagree with what NCP usually says, this one I do agree with to a certain extent. When it comes to flow, it is most certainly up in the air right now. Management will ...

No guaranteed flow through?

Had a couple of friends of mine interview and were told there is no guaranteed flow through as of recently, one turned down the job due to it. Any truth to this?

Re: Pilot shortage, how long?

Do you work at Jazz and know something I don't? I know lots of people at jazz, and maybe 90% don't have pic time.. Actually they needed PICUS to even apply for their atpl. I do know one or two guys who were previously multi captains but absolutely not the norm, and they have upwards of 3k hours... ...

Re: Want to work in Canada? Read this first, please!

Hi all, first post here! First of all, I understand that I need to HAVE THE LEGAL RIGHT TO WORK AND LIVE IN CANADA! Hahahaha! Thats obvious (or not) and I`m not planning a hole change in my life just to stay illegal somewhere. So my plan is to study at a College (like Seneca @Toronto) a 2yrs aviati...

Re: Cockroaches?

Or you could try to fix your own country instead of screwing with another country. Go fly corporate or something till the Canadian airlines get their chit together, that's what many American ATPs are doing. Besides its kinda a mute point as no one is getting a visa to work for a airline over here, ...

Re: Find the Missing Word

I don't really know anything about the business nuts and bolts of WestJet and Encore but are they set up and run as two different companies? I mean, isn't Georgian going with ALPA? Should I be shocked and appalled when the release doesn't call the company Air Canada Georgian? They're not Air Canada...

Re: ggn 1900 fo postion

That is 100% wrong - pilots from both types go to AC in pretty equal numbers, in fact in 2017 slightly more 1900 pilots went to AC than CRJ. In any case the PML is seniority based, you are correct that if coming from the Beech AC wants you to have PIC time but if off the CRJ they dont care, its abo...

Re: ggn 1900 fo postion

The PML is seniority based has nothing to do with equip type. Hiring is for equip vacancy just like every other company. Not sure what your point is. Equipment based but you still interview for a position a AC, they're not clambering for 1900 crews at mainline. And as per hiring equip vacancy, ther...

Re: Swoop Blacklist

Good question. There are not enough pilots graduating from colleges to fill the hiring requirements for 2018, nevermind the years beyond. I don't think WJ management realizes the importance of getting this right the first time. The flow to AC is about to be ramped up starting next month and those w...

Re: ggn 1900 fo postion

Nothing wrong with that path at all but it will put you back a couple of years going to AC. I wouldn't say that GGN 1900 furthers your career progression, much either. Especially with them not taking guys off the 1900 as much for the RJ, then hiring RJ guys/gals from flight schools. Leaving for a b...

Re: Are We Safe?

There are jurisdictions around the world that put cadets with basic 250 hour time into big jets that manage to do a safe job. Those same cadets become captains over time. So, I put forward that inexperience is not the culprit. Attitude? Training? Combination of both? Scheduling/fatigue? I would be ...

Re: Are We Safe?

Question is a simple one. Are you SAFE in the back seat of that Navajo? The experience level of a short time ago is gone. Personally, I don’t think you are. Again, I’m using the poor Navajo as an example. I think our industry at this level is in dire trouble. Hope I’m wrong. Illya I would even go f...

Re: ggn 1900 fo postion

Don't do it. You'd be doing yourself a huge disservice as a pilot starting your career. Go up north, or even halfway there at a place like Thunder. Go Captain, and you'll have great stories, hands and feet, friends, and some serious decision making credibility after a couple of years. Oh, and they ...

Re: Ggn recruiter ad.

Encore has flow through. If your ok with ggn wages why not go where there is flow? That would be a very short term view, unless of course, you want to work for wJ then that is 100% what you should do. If you want to work for AC then get to an express partner ----- any express partner. Not as accura...
