Re: New hire bids
Don't forget it's an election year and I betcha the elites have something brewing and ready to release in 2024. Remember what happened 4 years ago? All this insane hiring can grind to a halt anytime. Shit could all go sideways in a month and half of us are laid off again following arrows aroun...

Re: Westjet cancelling flights due to cold in Calgary
I don’t fly 737 but a lot of the newer aircraft types have a -40c limitation for dispatch. Yikes. Guess the North will have no choice but to keep old junkers airborne then... Do you happen to know what part of the plane is reponsible for that? New composite material limitations? Fluids? Electronics...

Acutally 4 less numbers than the new list says. They skipped #21,24,34 and 68 on the new seniority list.

^ What do you thank would stem that attrition, Rudder? Is it still a question of $$? Many of those leaving now are due to the schedules here at Jazz. Most days are minimum credit so you are consistently working 18 days/month which in itself is exhausting. Reduced routes means you are always flying ...

Wait, what we gotta know math? The only math I did last pairing was seeing how much my meal and pint in the US was going to cost me in Canadian Pesos when I get my Visa statement.

You can’t really expect hospital wait times to improve when the government is bringing in over 1 million immigrants annually. Of course they are building dozens of hospitals and hiring thousands of doctors and nurses. Our government is doing that, right? I agree. It’s time to rope off the chil...

In the early 2000s you needed 10+ years to hold left seat in YYZ at Jazz and nearly 20 for YVR.

The 737 Max is like the Ford Pinto for those of you old enough to remember. Built in design flaws. Quality control issues. Recurring defects.

Re: window blows out on alaska airlines / emergency landing
It’s the modern day Ford Pinto of airliners. Mass produced, inherent design flaw (engines installed in the wrong C of G), and lots of recalls (ADs) and quality control issues.

I made just over 180k at Jazz last year. Top payscale. A bit of overtime, couple days every other month and an LTC. Per-diems were approx 16k for the year. (I know it’s not income but I spend about 1/3 of what I get on layovers). I often wonder what our raise really was before Air Canada management ...

Re: q400 pilot a good path to e2 pilot?
Where is Porter going to get all these pilots? Unless a company like Flair goes under I don’t see it. They’ve pretty much tapped out the Jazz supply of Embraer pilots. The few remaining are lifers or are very low time first officers.

Does that mean they will start repairing the escalators with all that $$$? I worked over Xmas and tons of them were broken. Such a disgrace of an airport….Lt. Daniel Kaffee wrote: ↑Tue Dec 26, 2023 5:50 pm YYZ charges passengers a connecting flight AIF....as of Dec 2023 it is $7 plus taxes.

I showed the old lady that payscale and she’s just about ready to make me a tinder profile for US layovers.
Canadian wages are a disgrace. Paid half, Dollar worth much less, Taxed much more.
