Re: 2023 earnings
I made just over 180k at Jazz last year. Top payscale. A bit of overtime, couple days every other month and an LTC. Per-diems were approx 16k for the year. (I know it’s not income but I spend about 1/3 of what I get on layovers). I often wonder what our raise really was before Air Canada management ...

Re: q400 pilot a good path to e2 pilot?
Where is Porter going to get all these pilots? Unless a company like Flair goes under I don’t see it. They’ve pretty much tapped out the Jazz supply of Embraer pilots. The few remaining are lifers or are very low time first officers.

Does that mean they will start repairing the escalators with all that $$$? I worked over Xmas and tons of them were broken. Such a disgrace of an airport….Lt. Daniel Kaffee wrote: ↑Tue Dec 26, 2023 5:50 pm YYZ charges passengers a connecting flight AIF....as of Dec 2023 it is $7 plus taxes.

I showed the old lady that payscale and she’s just about ready to make me a tinder profile for US layovers.
Canadian wages are a disgrace. Paid half, Dollar worth much less, Taxed much more.

They know how to fix Jazz. Whether they want to or not is another story.
Yes training bonds would only drive away more applicants. The “Beatings will continue until morale improves” method isn’t working.

Re: Southwest has lost its mind.
They need to have seat sizers in the boarding lounge the same way there are bag sizers, with gate agents scoping out fatties the same way they do with oversized carry-on. "Excuse me ma'am, you'll need to sit in the seat sizer". If their disgusting lard ass spills over outside the sizer: "I'm sorry ...

Re: Jazz or Porter?
That said I would chose Porter. It would be nice to go work for a company with a bright future and growth plans! Unlike here. You can still choose Porter. :smt008 It’s tempting. If things get worse at Jazz it’s a possibility but I have quite a few years in and a DB pension (for now).

Re: Jazz or Porter?
Are you from Ontario? Right now Jazz is sending most new hires to Calgary or Vancouver. Also expect to get the Q400 at Jazz. They aren’t putting very many new hires on the E175 due to people leaving. That said I would chose Porter. It would be nice to go work for a company with a bright future and g...

Re: New hire bids
PS. The amount of AMEs leaving Jazz is also staggering at the moment. Pilot shortage might not matter if there’s no airworthy airplanes to fly.

Re: New hire bids
For those who don’t know, Air Canada pays for the training at Jazz so I have no problem with guys doing this. Remember it is Air Canada who is 100% to blame for the mess we have at Jazz. Not coming close to the 60% flow. Violating the CPA most recently with PAL Airlines. Meddling in the recent negot...

Re: How long til $100k?
100k isn’t really a large income these days. I think it took me 12 years. I’m closing in on 200k finally (next year?) after 24 years of flying as a career.

Re: New hire bids
AC would never admit fault for all the problems they have caused Jazz over the past several years. Hopefully (not likely) the judge bitch slaps them hard for meddling in the pilot wage negotiations this summer. I didn’t mind the extra $$$ but it didn’t help the pilot retention issue one bit. :rolley...

All fine if you want to spend the final years of your career on reserve with a lousy schedule.
Depends if you value the bigger pay over quality time away from work.

Re: New hire bids
Also if you go to AC now and get put on the 220 you will basically be a Jazz pilot for less pay doing all the low credit busy 1hr hops that Jazz used to do like Chicago, Boston, NYC etc.
