Re: Thank you from Cargojet

The positions have not as yet been filled, rather the interview times for the two days have been fully booked. We will not decide on the candidates to be offered until all of the interviews are complete. With course dates starting in mid-March, there was some urgency in getting the interviews done i...

Thank you from Cargojet

Thank you very much to all of you that have sent in your resumes in reply to our job posting, the response has been most gratifying. Thank you also to the proprietors of AvCanada for providing such an effective forum where a company such as ours can reach so many candidates and where aviation profes...

Apologies for being a bit out of touch with those of you that are trying to contact us; we are currently running initial training for all types, and the peak season is quite busy. We are looking for the following experience and qualifications in new-hire candidates: Multi-Engine Turboprop Entry-Leve...

Thank You from Cargojet

We would like to thank the many hundreds of pilots that responded to our recent AvCanada advertisement for Second Officer candidates. We have now completed our selection process and filled all of the available positions for our ground school on June 25th. Cargojet is a successful, dynamic company th...

No first hand experience, but a fellow pilot told me that he and a few others were hired (all quit their old jobs to start there) just to be laid off half way through the training because "plans changed". Double check before committing. good luck... Such a lay-off did not happen, and no one has bee...

I don't like to slam a colleague, but lay off the Canjet situation. There are few feelings more empty than having your job disappear from one minute to the next, and then spending the next weeks wondering how you will meet your obligations that inexorably continue; hoping that it will all get sorted...

Hi folks. Dave and I have not been muzzled, but in our roles we are the ones that take the messages from the line to senior management and back. And being in management of a public company, we are constrained in what we say by the rules of the Exchange. We are also responsible to the Minister of Tra...

Post-secondary education is an indirect influence. We don't absolutely require it, but most of our pilots have it. As I have said elsewhere, I don't like to speculate how long anything takes in this business. Even with many disclaimers and cautions, if I give any indication how long it will take for...

It would depend on the type of experience and the equipment. If there was little or no additional fixed wing experience, I would think that we would consider other applicants more favourably. Once again, it would depend on the particulars of the individual situation at the time.

Yes, of course it is worth a try. We have many resumes on file from pilots not yet at these numbers. We're not going to ignore someone just because they're a couple of hours short of something. It depends on the relative experience of other applicants on file at the time. And it always helps to show...

We pay attention to how well the candidate's version of events coincides with the references, certainly. It is usually fairly obvious if someone is uncomfortable about a situation. I would prefer to hear it first hand from the candidate if there is something I should know.

The qualification discussion always generates interesting posts, but we are looking for 2500TT with 500 hours turbine multi-command for Second Officer candidates. We have been fortunate in that we have attracted candidates with much higher time, so despite an apparent comparative disparity with othe...

Fair enough, everyone is entitled to an opinion. Why don't we leave it at that and desist from making ourselves look foolish by trying to convince each other. As the saying goes, "be right, or be happy". Truce.
