Re: Jazz or Sunwing ?
Take home net pay for Jazz FOs especially on reserve is around $2000 a month. There is an oversupply of FOs on reserve so we rarely get called to fly and basically make no perdiems or overtime pay. When you factor in the average cost of rent for a one bedroom condo in YYZ or YVR being $2000 a month...

Re: Westjet or Sunwing
If you are looking for a faster upgrade time, sunwing is probably a better place to go. Probably?? What are the upgrade times at WestJet? Sunwing is 49% owned by Tui. A company almost ten times the size of WestJet. I know where I'd place my bets as to who is going to last longer. WestJet seems like...

Re: inflation are you keeping up?
Well for a long time, I have been getting the "official" annual cost of living index as per our government +1% pay raise every year... Does that help? My insurance company just tried to raise rates by 15% to 'cover cost increases' same as last year. I called them out on it and got only a 5% increas...

Re: Co-Pilot_Global Express_Corporatif
I wouldn't say tho...

Re: Making it to AC within the next 3-4 years?
I did find it funny that a FlyDubai FO is looking for ID travel agreements when they all rave about how much they are paid and great schedules... I would think they can just fly confirmed. Everyone knows fly Dubai work you into the ground. You're home every day is the only benefit. 40 vacation days...

Re: North America 737/320 Pay Round-up
WestJet/Swoop/Flair/Whatever are able to crew their aircraft at whatever rates they're offering because pilots accept those rates. You guys make it sound like the airlines are unilaterally forcing wages down, and the pilots are just poor hapless victims in all this, but wages are low because pilots...

Ain't that the truth. Hopefully soon these companies and big red can't scrape the bottom of the experience barrel any more and will have to start paying a liveable wage for experience.JohnnyHotRocks wrote: ↑Fri Feb 01, 2019 11:58 pm Pathetic salary and yet still more than the first two years at our national airline. That was a nice long post. Glad you got it off your chest. As I mentioned, I'm open to an education. Please feel free to educate us and the future pilots on how this has set new positive standards in place that will benefit the industry as a whole instead of just Jazz pilots. You're right I have ha...

Re: TA Passed.
Easy to make comments like that from the outside. And if by eating young you mean taking on GGN pilots and giving every single one of them an immediate significant raise? Then ok. If you mean future pilots, well... Now they have a continuing revolving door at Jazz which will keep movement going for...

Re: TA Passed.
Someone should call Guinness. 17 contract must be a world record. Sorry to hear Jazz newhires continue to be working poor. 17 year contract? Seriously. I thought it was mostly Jazz pilots crapping on GGN pilots for lowering the industry just to better themselves. Shows in the end we are happy to ea...

Re: SWOOP - A New Hires Future
From my understanding, the vast majority of Swoop pilots (including Swoop captains) want to bid back to WJ (most as FO's). That should tell you something about working at Swoop. Unfortunately, the company is only letting 3 come back for "operation reasons". Swoop is probably the worst 705 job in th...

Re: Cathay Looking For Canadians
Why , as a pilot, would you live in HK central? Discovery Bay is alot closer by bus or car from the airport. Amazing place to live. And cheaper. Lots and lots of pilots living there. You answered your own question... Not everyone wants to live with a bunch of pilots in the suburbs... I see the attr...

Re: Why does everyone want to work at Air Canada?
The sense I get it is similar to asking someone the temperature and they include the wind chill .sounds more impressive than it is. Or, because it reflects an increased rate of heat loss, it gives you a more accurate description of just how much being in the elements is going to suck. I don't think...
