Maun is the place that tons of low timers go to fly tourists in and out of the Okavango Delta, mostly in 206's, although there is the occasional 208 (I only saw one that was based out of Maun, apparently there are a couple out of Gaberone). Didn't meet any Canadians or such doing that type of work, ...

I've heard, at least in Southern Ontario, that TC is going over the co-pilot time used as experience towards the ATP with a fine-toothed comb... Careful!

here's how I see it: My training consists of 2 years at a college, where I learned 10% of my flying skills. After, 6 months of float and bush strip training taught me 90% of my flying skills. I always felt that a student cannot learn effectively if s/he is too restricted. I think that training shou...

I think you can claim your eyeglasses/contact lenses expenses in the "medical expenses" area. You can claim any 12 month period, I believe (i.e. Jan 2003 to Jan 2004 if you want).

If you choose to do this on your own check with an instructor or another knowledgable pilot about conditions of the strip to which you plan to go - wet weather/spring etc cause mud, puddles, etc, so be smart and choose a time of year and approved strip that gives you ideal conditions. (The place whe...

What I did - and it takes a while - is go thru the Aerocourse question book and look up the answers in reference books (i.e. AIP, IPM), and learned all the stuff relating to the question also. If you do this make flash cards as you go, and at the end of it all you'll have a good set of study cards. ...

I'm going to be based in Norman Wells for a couple of months. Any info on the town or advice on what to bring, other than my Snow Goose?

More info will be in Part IV somewhere, but you must be a Class III instructor or higher to freelance. The only way you can legally train him on his aircraft if you are a Class IV is if you already work for an FTU.

I wrote the CPL exam in 2001. I found it difficult in that there were so many "wordy" questions. Hopefully they have changed things since then. Of all the TC exams (and I've written all of them for fixed wing except the Class II/I instructor) I thought the CPL was the trickiest, I found the IFR to b...
