Re: What’s up with Westjet
Without knowing their contract I’d imagine they have scope provisions that wouldn’t allow that, if they don’t then the contract is worthless. The same scrope that said swoop can only have X number of planes, and they won't fly from yyz? Did you say "scrope" on purpose? If so, that's an excellent ne...

This : :smt040 ACA22A09-E1A9-4E98-9A89-5B8EB2B22323.jpeg Hey man, 14 hours a day, and 20 days per month. That's $65000/year or so! Pretty good for someone who doesn't know how to navigate, doesn't really know how the machine works, barely knows how to fly, and didn't necessarily graduate from anyth...

Re: Twin Cessna Air BnB
I've spent too many nights sleeping in "Château DeHavilland" out of necessity, to find anything remotely enjoyable about doing it voluntarily.
Having said that, if this "B&B" actually had something like a defunct Otter, it would be immensely more roomy than this thing.

Re: rebuild the arrow petition
Although a romantic and exciting idea to see an Arrow flying, this idea makes about as much sense as NASA basing their return to the moon on The Saturn V and Apollo-era CSM/LEM. Actually it makes less sense, because the '60s era stuff, if built correctly, would still probably be able to go to the mo...

Someday reservetank will be on his reserve tank of oxygen. Or maybe not, if enough people in his periphery do bother to get vaccinated.

Re: Beaver Tips
I just got started on the Beaver this spring and this thread has been very insightful. My biggest question: which is the fastest way to get it on the step ? I have been experimenting with pushing hard, rocking back and forth, trimming it all the way forward. I always managed to get it on the step e...

"its dumb" because you dont understand it. You sound like a typical Encore pilot who picks up garbage for 39k a year You’re wrong by a factor of 10 - and change. I take comfort in knowing that you couldn’t possibly work for my operation because you’d never get past the personality profile screening...

Re: Why do twin piston aircraft not have a barber pole?
I think the reason some planes don't have a "barber pole" is economic and regulatory. There must be other reasons besides critical mach number that an aeroplane has diminishing indicated VMO with increasing altitude. Even the extremely humble DHC-6 has placarded maximum speeds which diminish increme...

Re: Aviation officer questions
Kind of weird to go on a Canadian aviation forum to ask questions about the roles of foreign military members. An American "officer" is expected to know which countries are "The U.S.A." and which countries are NOT "The U.S.A.", no? How the christ should any of us know what the hell you learned in "R...

Re: Pilots Getting a Tip
I am philosophically opposed to tipping in the first place. I think it's a degrading practice. Before anyone says "you must be a fun date" or anything like that, I recognize that in North America the tradition of tipping is so out of control that a great many service people depend on it to make a de...

What bearing does one's avcanada membership history or current status as a pilot have on one's ability to spot photoshopped fakes? I suppose my comment was directed at his awareness of aviation issues as an "insider". I'll concede the point. I'm sorry to keep butting into this conversation, but I A...

Re: Plane takes off with concrete tie down attached in Kelowna.
Another friend was in YPL with a Turbo Otter on skis. Got airborne with a cement filled tire attached to the tail. Apparently flew “ poorly “, so they came back and landed. I watched that one happen! The tire towed along nice and smooth.. I was there, too. For some reason the pilot thought landing ...

Re: Interesting idea for fuel savings
And after resolving the above issues, why would we want to fly 2 airplanes that are flying the same route ... let’s say Boeing 737s in formation, when we can combine both of them in one larger plane like 777? Two 777 or A380-esque airplanes could realize some shared savings without the development ...
