Re: Logging Co-pilot time, VFR only ops

The AOC specifies the number of crew members, which must then be reflected in the COM. The operation must also have SOPs to operate 2 crew. The qualifications of the crew (like the F/O having a PCC or PPC and the PIC having a PPC) are outlined in CAR 703.88.

CAR 700.15 (1) Subject to subsection (2), no air operator shall assign a flight crew member for flight time, and no flight crew member shall accept such an assignment, if the flight crew member’s total flight time in all flights conducted by the flight crew member will, as a result, exceed.... Re: Learning to fly in the golden years

If fun is the goal, go fly with an instructor, go have fun. But, I agree with Bede, that older people pick up the skills more slowly, and are more prone to errors. I have type trained a number of pilots on more advanced types, and I have found it to be nearly universal that a young pilot will pick ...

Where did this narrative of this incident come from? I just searched the CADORS by region and by operator name and can't find anything

Re: Thinking about plane purchase

Got my float rating quite a few years ago, but haven't flown in quite a few years. After getting the rating, I rented a 170 on floats.... once. On the medium size lake it was based on, it was pretty scary - it took forever to get on the step and climbed like an absolute pig. That was with two of us ...

I definitely understand other people's perspectives on this issue, and I do regret several life choices I have made. That being said I really am in a bit of a life mess, maybe it is one of my own making, but it is in fact real. I was hoping for a little assistance, some of the posts here are really...

That's what I couldn't really figure out- I've heard people refer to the flying club in Mooncton, which to me implies rental, but I haven;t heard details

Re: New pot legislatiion brings on talk of pilot pee in a cup

I don’t doubt that there would be some sort of long term effect. But if you’re concerned about that, then where is your concern for the majority of us who consume alcohol while not on the job? Alcohol, especially when consumed chronically, has very serious side effects. There have been high profile...

To all the pot smokers who say that one last week is no biggie. Talk to your medical examiner. If you test positive you are in for a world of hurt. No rationalization is going to help. Again. Dont believe me. Talk to your medical examiner about what will happen if you test positive. It must be a gr...

Or did they just report an emergency landing? The following statement of no charges have been laid at t...

I know it sounds old fashioned in this era of technology, but when I was studying for various exams, as I read the material I took notes longhand. You guys re so jaded - I just thought it was an expression of "Yay - we're home!" And incidentally, I may not clap for the dentist, but I do thank him. Since you may not get to meet your pilots face to face, perhaps it is a way that some people say thanks.

The folks at Lightspeed really stand behind their product. I had a problem with the boom mike not staying in place (i.e. lost its flexibility) - it was way out of warranty (by two years I think), and they fixed it for free, I just had to ship it to them. While it was there they also fixed the cord t...

One thing that VFR traffic can sometimes forget is to watch out for the IFR guys, who may be joining straight in off the IFR approach, even at a non-MF airport.

Excellent post, PilotDAR - technology is wonderful and a great aid to decision making, but can also be a great hindrance to learning. The question of combating get-home-itis is a good one, because I remember first encountering it in a C172 with the ink not yet dry on my PPL, and it was still happeni...
