Re: New Zealand Dash Ad
Did the head hunter outfit recruiting for (I assume Jetstar NZ) recently put out an ad for screenings this September in Vancouver ? Is there a pilot shortage down under or a "pay" shortage like here ?

Roughly 90k/yr with the opportunity to move up to their mainline fleet...wonder what the cost of living is like down there ?? Might be not a bad gig considering the wawcon at the regionals here...or compare it to what Maldivian Airlines is offering for Dash 8 cpts

Re: New hire bids
If Jazz can still afford to dole out PFO's, then they can't be hurting too badly for qualified candidates.

Wasn't YRT paved when it became an FOL for the CF 18s ? How about first expanding the ramps at some northern airports...things can get tight when everyone is waiting to park at the fuel cabinets and/or having overlapping sked times... And regarding paved arctic runways, look at Thule Greenland....th...

Re: Jazz Experience
Qualified as per CARs minimums (Commercial, Group 1, and IATRA)? Or qualified as per Jazz hiring practices? Everybody with about 1400+ hours, commercial IFR experience, and at least As written seems to get called for an interview about a month after applying. That pool of applicants can't be contai...

Interesting choice going with Wasaya...wonder if this has anything to do with them having leased or purchased ex-Chorus Dash 8's recently ? Also Voyageur Airways is Jazz's sister company (also owned by Chorus) yet no college deal there ?

Dead Heading
It would be an interesting comparison about how many hours a month does your company have you DH and do you get credit or $$ for it?

The new D8 Wasaya is operating is an "ex" Jazz machine that was parked in storage at Chorus Aviation's North Bay boneyard.

Re: Winter Bid released today.
The rumour is Q sim in YVR. 220 training events from the bid alone, plus another 140 new hire courses. Would be a good time for anyone with the experience to join the training department. The 3 junior Yvr classic Captains were all in the same nov 2015 class. I'm not sure if that's an anomaly from t...

Re: Air Canada Pool
Are regionals going to see a "quitting wave" of people that get PFO'd from Big Red? I can't speak for everyone, but the majority of the "young" people I talk to from Jazz all intend to leave for the vacation carriers, sandbox or China if AC doesn't work out for them. This is probably a reason why J...

Re: Working for airlines sucks what else should I look into
Being gone over half the month. Low to moderate pay to start. Eventually make good money but then you are married to your company. Hanging out with people you barely know. Hotels suck. Flying is pretty boring if you are honest. Eating out sucks. I liked things better when I was a 703 pilot and actu...
