This forum could use a "like" button. In the past I have students attempt to put the flaps down on a training flight above Vfe. First off I never EVER let them exceed this by even 1 knot. If I catch them going for the lever before Vfe I will say in a firm voice "STOP". This usually results in them n...

I'll agree with the both of you. I think the plane did well with holes in it. "indestructible"? That's just a silly thing to say asking for trouble.

Actually all it does is confirm what every operator of them already knows, that the A380 is an absolute piece of shit. But... KARL STEFANOVIC: Is the A380 safe? RICHARD DE CRESPIGNY: Absolutely. This was the biggest testament to Airbus. Some people might think the aircraft collapsed under the onsla...

Buffalo school of aviation? Do they still run this or is that why it's hanging up as a decoration?

PS I dont know if you realize this, but there are quite a few airplanes where putting the flaps down overspeed can actually remove them from the airframe, Maybe thats just me sitting on my high horse again by mentioning that.... How many of these types of aircraft are used in ab initio type trainin...

Were you going for "scalp" there?

I know why you can't have one blade. What about three or four? I would think three would be best but may not provide the right amount of drag to keep it in motion around the axis. Anyone know?

Shiney, if this wasn't caught that guy might have figured this to be a great way to operate until he flew and broke one later in life. In fact once that happened he'd probably be confused. "I used to do this all the time on the planes I learned to fly on. What happened?" I'm surprised only 25 kts wa...

Re: Freelance instruction hookup website?

Real names for everyone who is on the website : instructors of course, and students who comment. I know I might sound senile by mentioning this again, but this system works pretty well on TripAdvisor (only they don't have real names there). Using real names may help immensly in regards to policing ...

Those high tension wires to his right don't look like a possible hazard? ...

Re: Never Say Die...

That was awesome! The fact that, "because I ride or that I'm old" could have helped stir emotions. I must note it has less to do with that bank than things in bud light commercials do with drinking their beer.

Re: overspead flaps...

I would have many more questions for the student. it was fine to overspeed flaps so long as its not for an extended time, furthermore he does it all the time... So why do they bother having a Vfe? Do you consider "all the time" to be the same as "not for an extended time"? How long is "not for an ex...

Re: Freelance instruction hookup website?

In my opinion there's two preffered ways to go here. A - Small site where you personally know enough about each instructor to confidently recommend each of them. B - Giant site that may become profitable. You let everyone you can find that's willing on it. Ratings will be important or a couple of ba...

The lumber in the structure of the rafters should be solid and might be valuable. That might be part of the reason they are being torn down in so many cases. I figured just having the roof re-tarred might double the cost. I could be off but even if it ended up being 30 - 40 thousand it would make it...

A couple of years ago one of those hangers near Vulcan AB was for sale asking $80k, I wanted it but with holes in the roof and the runways returning to grassland I balked.
