Re: Another one kicked off flight.
I've only read the one article posted on this topic, but seems like in this case - it's much clearer what transpired tha in others as people's stories are corroborating. If things went down as he says they did - I definitely think he should pursue legal action against Southwest and if he doesn't wan...

Which begs the question: why not move to civilisation? If whatever city you were in had one block with shitty conditions (no utilities, runing water or sewers, roads, schools etc), and the government that you paid taxes to told you to either move to the rich part of the city that you couldn't affor...

Re: PPL/RPP Training on Floats
If you do the entire things on floats would you get a SE floats rating?
Also - cursory search doesn't show any night flying on floats - is that a thing?

Well one of the big advantages of android is rooting and running a custom ROM...CpnCrunch wrote:You might want to try Fltplan Go. It works on Android and iOS, and it's free.
In terms of tablets, I prefer Android in general, although I would recommend avoiding Samsung due to all the crapware.

Grade 10 I think, because we were using sine and cosine in our intro to vectors for physics in grade 10.JasonE wrote:Certainly not University level...More like Grade 11/12 I believe.

Re: Wind correction angle and groundspeed without an E6B
How to find the wind correction angle and your predicted groundspeed with a regular scientific calculator. Any mistakes - let me know. EDIT: changed a couple of things (again) (and again) :-) Looks good to me. I never liked the E6B. Seemed a clunky way to get a less precise answer slower than I cou...

Photofly: while that's an interesting exercise, how exactly does it apply to us actually flying? I can't think of any situation in normal day-to-day flying (i.e. non aerobatic) that requires turning in a precise circle. Not Day to Day flying, but if you want to be an AC130 Gunship pilot it applies ...

Unfortunately the hold was already secured, the baggage checking system wasn't available, Can't you gate check items? United was asking people to gate check items on my flight a few weeks ago with them on an EMB175. They put little green tags on them - no computer system necessary. And when you kic...

So... Being Muslim allows you to circumvent safety rules put in place by the FAA. Must be nice. Which safety rules? Children can sit in the seat without a car seat or be held in a parents lap. And they were let on the next flight, so obviously the "safety" concern had nothing to do with their child...

if you're already on SSRI's with no negative effects I don't see why you wouldn't get one.
In military flying you're grounded for awhile, and then if no negative effects cleared - and that's basically the same medical as a CAT 1.

I dunno. I'm kind of on the fence with this one. We get angry if immigrants to Canada try to impose their culture on us, and I think rightly so. You act appropriate to the country you're in. So isn't this just the same thing? People not respecting another country's customs while in it? Agreed, if y...

Re: Flap setting on walkaround
You're right. I was just talking about the Grob we have here. I realize the way we operate it might be a bit different than most. Our ramp is clean, no oil, mud, FOD, etc... If rainy, walkaround can be done inside a hangar usually. No other aircraft except ours sitting outside. Not many people flyi...

If you want want IMC for your IFR rating go to BC/Atlantic Canada in the winter. The prairies were chosen for the CF's flight training for a reason. No mountains to hit and lots of big blue sky (most) days (and cheap as hell land). This however is pretty anecdotal. http://www.livingin-canada.com/sun...

Hey Flightman I agree with some of the advice on here; my case I didn't have much option financially.
