Re: Summit Air position
No thanks - already did that sh!t 20+ years ago. Doesn't stop me from poking at the Semenkos of this world, in the hopes of making things a little better for the industry going forward. Ahhhh yes. Making the world a better place, one anonymous, obscure internet forum post at a time. I'm sure compan...

Re: Flying while suspended for Impaired
Should we disband the sex offender registry, too? Intentionally preying upon the vulnerable is a very different thing than making an isolated, terrible choice that leads to an accident. And driving a personal vehicle is a very different thing from a commercial aircraft operation in which there are ...

Re: United Airlines hiring goals
But there’s no reason why those preferences are to do with what sex you are. I'd be interested to see credible scientific evidence of this claim. If we take this argument to its logical conclusion, that the lack of 50/50, male/female representation in any aspect of life is a result of the systemic ...

And the information straight from public health in Toronto. Screenshot_20210409-154644.png Why is it the media is screaming that ICUs are full but when you check the status, capacity is in the green. https://www.toronto.ca/home/covid-19/covid-19-latest-city-of-toronto-news/covid-19-status-of-cases-...

Nor is it good for all the other women who might sign up for ground school but look ahead and say to themselves, thanks, but I don’t want to be the only woman in my class. I can’t see a way forward for myself when every pilot I see is a man. I think I’ll do something else instead. Amidst all the hi...

Re: CDC release study on masks during covid. Efficacy is 0.5-1.9 percent.
Death is not the sole non-trivial outcome of this disease. I came down with the flu (got tested, three times, definitely not Covid, doc is pretty sure it was Influenza) in January. I'm still now dealing with the shadow if it, three months later - and that's just the flu. So why don't we lock down f...

Re: CDC release study on masks during covid. Efficacy is 0.5-1.9 percent.
Well, a co-worker of a good friend of mine --a nurse -- was just lost to Covid. 40 years old, absolutely no pre existing health conditions. They are in shock at the Toronto area hospital. Keep telling me how fake all of this is, and the hospitals are empty. Well, she'll be one of the very few, if n...

Re: Pilots in waiting NWAL Post
Why would it be a burden to place a newbie in a right seat in place of someone else for the odd pairing? You're still (or at least, could be) paying everyone the same, assuming a salaried position. There may be some labour strife over loggable hours, but that's the only concern I can envision. Gene...

Re: Pilots in waiting NWAL Post
It's more the "pilot in waiting" idea in general. While I don't have an issue with it per se , it's the uncertainty around it I abhor - The "6-24 month waiting time, depending on company demand" caveat. I don't think that practice is acceptable. Now if, on the other hand, the arrangement is "you wi...

Re: CDC release study on masks during covid. Efficacy is 0.5-1.9 percent.
Well it's harsh and certainly comes from an emotional place instead of a logical one, I'll grant you that. Surely it would be preferable that government mandates and policies are rooted firmly in logic rather than emotion, especially where people's livelihoods are concerned, would it not? That bein...

a bunch of healthcare workers have declined the vaccine Fire them. All of them. With extreme prejudice. I'm usually an ardent supporter of personal freedom regardless of consequence, but not with people who can't seem to grasp the idea that healthcare is supposed to stop further spread. These peopl...

Especially when you remember that Socrates and Copernicus were both executed for it, and we now revere them as visionaries without equal.

And you have to give them all equal weight, because you're not an expert. This is a mic drop moment, who could argue against this logic. I like it, if you’re not an expert in the field, give equal weight to each expert and go with the majority, if they are swayed, I too will be! Ah yes. Let's aband...

Re: Why do twin piston aircraft not have a barber pole?
That's an informative anecdote but it still doesn't seem to explain the "why." (Or maybe it is that simple, I don't know.) The aircraft I fly will theoretically never reach even close to barber pole in level flight at normal cruising altitudes in the fight levels. But it still has one. There's still...

Re: Pilot in Waiting or Flight Instructor
First, take whatever is available. Beggars can't be choosers and unfortunately, pilots are beggars again at the moment. Any job in the industry that is a flying seat or will lead to a flying seat is better than nothing. If you have multiple options, do whichever is best for you and best fits your li...

Re: Employee with PPL flying for the Company
Why throw good money after bad? If all you're doing is taking pictures (which, with your experience level is all you should be doing) just get a drone. Considerably more cost effective and better suited/purpose built for the task.

Re: Pilots in waiting NWAL Post
I could buy that argument for a single pilot aircraft, or at an operation that promotes/hires incompetent captains. But not where the capability exists to mentor a junior pilot. And I dare say that putting a fresh out of flight school 20 year old who just spent 12 months on the ramp into the right ...

Re: Pilots in waiting NWAL Post
This old school mentality needs to go away. Why? What mentality? The one where people do what they think is best for them and will give them the best chance at success in a tough industry? Every year there are x number of entry level flying jobs and probably in the neighbourhood of 5 x entry level ...
