Re: WARNING ON JET-OPS DUBAI
The only way I can see a 20,000 dollar bill on a Visa, is an evening in one of these underground cabaret. You can rack up a large bill in a matter of hours.

Quito Mariscal Sucre International Airport, Ecuador (SEQM) to Sultan Syarif Kasim II Airport, Indonesia (WIBB). 20015 km. Remember that the Earth's circumference is greater on the equator than pole to pole. You are right. It looks strange on the map anyway... My longest flight so far: http:/...

Re: Finished my night rating!
Night flying is sure the best flying there is. Especially in the north, where there are no lights at all, and the radio is silent. It sure hones IFR skills, when their are no ground references. The air is still, and any plane can be flown with feet only.
I also did my smoothest landings at night...

Good answer, but I counted one less zero...crazy_aviator wrote:If the rear pressure bulkhead is 10 ft by 10 ft multiplied by 144 = 100 times 144 = 144000. If the differential is 5 psig, the the overall force acting on the bulkhead would be 720,000 pounds

Who says the load wasn't secure? Each of those vehicals weighs 14 tons (if in fact they were carrying MRAP's as reported) thats means the load would need to be secured to withstand 126 tons! Based on the FAA requirement of needing to stay restrained under a 9G load. Forget for a min that th...

Re: Samoa Air introduces ‘pay-as-you-weigh’ fare policy
Somehow I have to think that the first swig from the bottle must have tasted so much sweeter than the last few drops we're currently trying to lick out this empty industry. Every now and then someone says something that describes the way I feel so succinctly that it bears repeating. What I would re...

Re: Samoa Air introduces ‘pay-as-you-weigh’ fare policy
Aside from the legal issues you mentioned, which I think are quite irrelevant in Samoa, this is the next step in treating passengers like cargo. FedEx charges by the kilo, so why not the airlines? Actually, in a Boeing 767, the fatter passenger is contributing to a loss of revenue to the airline, wh...

Re: Professional Recognition Sought For Pilots
In this day and age of government backing away from close monitoring of adherence to standards, and delegating self policing standards, like in the case of SMS, the idea of a professional body representing pilots may just fly. It could start as college, or whatever it is named, like the associations...

Re: Mishandling a forward slip
This tread is really too technical for me. A forward slip for me is having the right hand on the throttle, the left one on the yoke, the two feet acting intelligently, and the eyeballs on the runway button. The rest is just simple coordination. It is like stopping your car on the white line at a red...

Re: Whiteout in the logbook?
As an aside, my PPL and CPL instructor educated me to maintain a pristine logbook. As he said, it shows that you are meticulous, tidy, and that looks good in an interview. I think he made sense. I got in the habit of using separate sheets in CASARA. Then, when the flying is done for the weekend, cop...

Re: Another Drunk Pax...
I do not agree with people getting drunk in public, but, it seems to me that the aviation world is starting to get a little paranoid about it. A drunk on a plane will not endanger homeland security more, than a drunk on a train, bus, or taxi. So what is the big fuss about airplanes? As far as I can ...
