Well at least they didn’t kill anyone on the ground.

Re: 10 years ago today Colgan Air 3407
At first indication of a stall the Captain pulled back on the controls and kept pulling overriding the stick push. I think he thought it was a tail stall due to ice. Yeah the dude who failed almost every check ride in his career let his auto pilot level him off all the way to the stick shaker and y...

If you can’t go IFR, go VFR!
Just OBS the runway heading and descend at half your ground speed.
What could possibly go wrong

Re: 80k for a government chief pilot
It may surprise some, but CP's rarely make much more than pilots. I think at my company, you get base salary + $20k or something like that. In exchange, you get weekends off, set your own schedule, sleep in your own bed every night and don't have to deal with jet lag. Set your own schedule, good on...

Re: Jazz or Sunwing ?
Jazz is a long way from being a bad company. For those saying "Jazz can suck it," I'd love to hear your aviation background. Evidently, your experience in the industry is pretty limited. Let me guess: 2 years instructing, 6 months 704, then straight to Jazz? You clearly don't know what shitty is. T...

Re: Jazz or Sunwing ?
Jazz can suck it. It’s not like he took a Kingair PPC from a mom and pop shop and went to work for the competition next door after 3 months. If Jazz paid their FOs more than starving wages then they wouldn’t have people leaving. Look at the SWG payscale, unlike Jazz, it’s a career destination and no...

Re: SWOOP - A New Hires Future
Another update. While WJ pilots have to wait an extra week this month for their schedule due to the MAX issues. All employee groups travelling for business are now eligible for an upgrade to business class. With the only excluded group from this being "deadheading Westjet pilots". FAs can be in Bus...

Palebird, I would encourage you to do your own homework .. I wish it was BS. Indice reports, which are also called LERC’s are a permanent record of police contact and are used for various background checks including vulnerable sector checks, or any other agency you give permission to .. ie Transpor...

Re: Esop reduction..
Serves you right. You sold off the next generation of pilots purely in the hope of getting an AC seat that would have gotten anyways. Enjoys those C4 passes and having AC rampies bump you to the back of the slave ship when you’re deadheading. Why are you angry with the pilots. Its management who ar...

Sunwing will be the quickest upgrade. Probably also the better lifestyle depending what you’re looking for and what base you choose.

Re: Current Carson Pay for 350 captain?
85k to start. 4 on 4 off rotating days and nights. Unlike YLW which is only days. No premium for night shift. 12-14 hours. No sick days. (Can anyone confirm this? It can't be) No rrsp basically. Medicals are paid. Passports are paid. Perdiem is 30 bucks a day. There is a jet. Not easy to move to th...

Re: Ethiopian Airlines: 'No survivors' on crashed Boeing 737 max
Always been a big fan of the Boeing product but I do believe they were extremely lazy and greedy in the case of the Max. It’s completely ridiculous from an engineering point of view to have this system running off the data of 1 AoA sensor. Absolute nonsense and there will be major penalties if it co...

Re: Current Carson Pay for 350 captain?
350 Capt at Carson is above 80k. Above 90 for training capt. The YLW gig is an amazing job with an amazing schedule, top notch crews, day time only, sleep in your own bed 95% of the time. 4 on/5 off with the odd call day. Maintenance is absolutely tip top as opposed to the cargo side of the business...

Re: Manitoba signs 5-year deal for private air transportation
Company I used to work for long time ago bought a 200 from Keystone and it was the biggest piece of shit of the fleet, absolute garbage and borderline fraudulent parts. They ended having to replace almost everything including the props. It ended up having a dual bus failure on a hard IMC day in icin...
