Re: New WestJet FO
Ok someone asked about having trouble with upgrade: we do have a process, alpa did add some clarity to the whole thing for those having issues. Attitude wise they call your skippers yohvd flown with to see how you perform, and obviously if you have a big file if reprimands thats not going go well fo...

Re: Price/demand for free lance instructors.
Of that $350, $200 is AC wet, $150 instructor which I'm sure the school takes a healthy chunk. I'm thinking of renewing my rating and doing it part time for cash. Just a thought as OT is worth waaaaay more but I enjoyed instructing back in the day and I think I'd like it more now and have a lot more...

Price/demand for free lance instructors.
Been hearing horror stories from new students about the price theyre paying for instruction. Today heard $350/hr for a C152. That can't be real?
How much are free lance instructors getting per hour and hows the demand?

Re: New WestJet FO
Upgrades are seniority based. As long as your last few sims are clean and you dont have a serious attitude problem you get your upgrade. That seniority list includes encore and swoop. As for swoop who knows what onex has planned. Right now its slated to get 10 aircraft. Who knows if it'll expand or ...

Re: New WestJet FO
The point is if AC stagnates, everyone will. Think that left seat's going to come sooner at WJ if the economy tanks? Slagging someone coming to AC from WJ looking for a left seat makes no sense. If it's not coming at AC. It's for sure not coming at WJ. No one is slagging anyone. Infact I wish all m...

Re: New WestJet FO
Its a pretty good gig still, good schedules, travel perks, pretty good money. Really theres a lot up in the air. With Onex buying us, a change in our compensation (pension) and I hear accelerated 787s coming, there is some good moment coming. That could change tomorrow, this is aviation after all. G...

Yes as far as I know.
Re: One list
Totally agree, let's start with rewording now and finish with common employer later
Re: One list
Skybarron, pull your head out of your a$$. I'm a mainline cpt, I voted no Purely because of the lack of 2 way flow. I chat with a lot of my peers and can say with confidence we want this. No OTS tiny minority that wants this. That's just as stupid as the wjpa supporters saying we were tricked by a b...

Congrats AT pilots and AC, this is a smart move.

Re: One list
No grandfathering, no re-voting. You lost. Brexit did not pass because people were tricked. Trump did not win because of Russia collusion. Why can modern liberal-type not accept the result of a vote? Last I checked it's us Gen Xers demanding we tweak what we voted no to, not the encore pilots. Nice...
Re: One list
Oh and to help those that dont believe were serious: Resolution: WestJet pilots will immediately file for common employer with Encore. That's the title of a LEC meeting that just took place and this resolution was unanimously passed. I wont post the rest but it's being meet with applause from our on...
Re: One list
Now, for Biff and ex-DC10 driver and sarg, it looks like I have been proven wrong that even after a failed LOA, the WJ MEC is looking at different options and wording. I'm happy to be wrong on this. I hope that we can continue working on this to protect pilot unity at WestJet. Cheers No worries bud...
Re: One list
So let's say the LOU gets fixed up with wording to protect certain things that you guys were concerned about (layoff protection, etc.)...Would you guys vote "yes" to it? Yup. A true one list has movement in both directions. In the event of a layoff I want to know I get a left seat on the dash. Do I...
Re: One list
For what it's worth, you guys at Encore are still way ahead where you would have been before the existence of Encore. Which don't forget, was only 6 years ago. Back then all you 1000 hour instructors would have been flying to fort skin john, loading bags in -30 wind chill and "paying" your dues bef...
Re: One list
There is already a ground swell of wj no voting pilots who want it reworked and re voted. Fix one simple aspect- reverse flow if there are layoffs (as was in the original moa) and it will pass.
The one list is still wanted, and I expect a demand for tweaking. Dont freak out just yet.

Re: Leaving a good paying secure job for aviation
Hello all, I did my flight training about 5 years ago but a lot of things didn't work out so had to put it off. I'm always thinking about getting back into aviation to the point that it's bothering me every day, the goal would be the airlines obviously (i.e Sunwing, Transat, etc.) The dilemma is no...
