NavCanada announces New and Revised Service Charges

EXACTLY!! I'm a private pilot too, but I also know what goes on in the big picture. I sense that you didn't pick up on my sarcasm. I am also quite versed on the goings on behind the scenes at NAVCAN. Consider alerting service alone and the costs involved, as compared to the actual funds collected. ...

Nice Landing, But He Didn't Sign It In!

There were 84 people killed and over 100 injured. This was a horrific airshow disaster that was 100% pilot error.

Re: NavCanada announces New and Revised Service Charges

...They are in general a pain in the ass for the system. It is one of the reasons they built satellite airports like St. Andrews, Springbank, Buttonville etc. I don't agree with your 'facts' at all, but then again...what would I know, right? I'm *just* a private pilot with no idea what goes on at N...

Re: NavCanada announces New and Revised Service Charges

Light aircraft are plain and simple a pain in the ass for ATC at the major airports and also for the airport authorities themselves. This does not hold true for all of the airports on the list. You shouldn't assume that all controllers at these locations share your opinion. I know a few of the towe...

NavCanada announces New and Revised Service Charges

[quote="polythene_pam]In the past 10 years alone, the costs of providing navigational services has greatly increased as well... Don't forget, small aircraft have historically been getting MUCH MUCH more than they pay for. Small aircraft have been basically getting a nearly free ride on the backs of ...

When I began flying I couldn't believe how cheap it was as a matter of fact!! You must have started flying a long time ago if you thought it was inexpensive. In the past 10 years alone the cost has doubled in most places around the country. Then again, perhaps you came into flying with a bi...

Retro Paint Jobs

Took this one few months ago in KSFO... This one is particularly neat. The maple leaf is a different shade of red because it is made up of the names of all AC employees. I would think that these retro and unique paint jobs are done more for the employees for notalgia rather than anything else. I do...

Video of Helicopter crash

WTF was going on there. I know nothing about heliocopters but I've watched other crash videos of them and they usually seem pretty controlled unless they roll on the ground or hit something with the rotor what could have been going on here? Here are links to the official NTSB reports: http://www.nt...

Charlie, your anti-pilot semitism seems to embody the worst of NAVCANADA better than anyone else I have ever seen pos here claiming to work for them. Every time you post it seems to reinforce a recurring idea of "shut the f*** up and hand over your wallet...and quit complaining about it." I wish the...

So when did you make the transition to an elitist NAVCAN left winger, peon? (I don't mean this term to apply to all NAV employees..just this peon).

Nice generalization. You are a dis-service to your very employer making remarks like this. Clearly you should never have become any part of this industry.

Charlie_G..how in the hell do they let you talk on the radio when you clearly show that you can't even get "the picture" of what these posters are saying. The points that people were trying to get across is that pilots pay out their money to everyone, not just NAVCANADA, so of course paying out more...

Charlie, you are grouping individual opinions as one collective and conflicted thought. Why would you do that? I can't possibly see things from Cat's perspective. I can only tell you my thoughts on what *might* make it a better system for my little corner of the entire and varied world of aviation i...

Re: Wings Jan/Feb '06

But regardless of that, I still don't understand where this whole "sympathy" thing factors in. Where does sympathy come in to play when a business is trying to match revenue to costs? Sympathy is not a criterion for running a business, or at least not if you're looking to remain in business. Suppos...

You're right Charlie_G, but Ops and Finance are two separate divisions of NavCanada. It's Finance that that comes up with the fees that often don't seem to take the pilot into consideration and there is very little flying experience (or sympathy for that matter) within their ranks.

Ice chunks falling onto houses from planes!?!?

Saw this on the news...the pieces were long, staright and definitely not lav juice. The gravel looks looked more like the sand they throw down on taxiways. Maybe it's off a DASH-8 gear leg or leading edge given the length of the ice. I also checked out the woman's address by looing up her listing in...
