Re: Where to begin
Since you mentioned Australia - this was one of the first search results. https://www.casa.gov.au/file/124601/download?token=QFz8KlzA It talks about logging hours for an ATPL. It allows for PICUS which can obviously only be logged from the right seat if the person doesn't have an ATPL. I agree that...

Re: Where to begin
Dont know the specifics of transport canada, but it all depends on the authority. FAA PICUS is different from EASA which is different from CASA etc. For instance on an FAA type rating in some cases you can't become PIC without 25 hours PICUs sitting in the left seat with a training captain on the ri...

Re: Where to begin
It's not PICUS. PICUS is left seat and taking the role of captain but with another training Capt in the right seat. No way you can be PIC on a 330 with less than ATP in the civil world.
Stop drawing to the bait... The OP is a troll and full of crap.

Good laugh. Was also able to upgrade to 330 PIC without an ATPL. Forget Trump, go straight to NASA

Re: Tired of the Canadian Aviation Industry
Rudder - unless you work for CJ I would suggest you have no knowledge of what has happened in the past two months with union negotiations. A large portion of the pilot group is VERY unhappy and now have to work two more days a month due to the new contract to ensure that the customers are not infor...

Re: Tired of the Canadian Aviation Industry
The original poster mentioned looking into other fields that will be more rewarding. I always find this outlook interesting. I think most people think that all the "big money" careers (engineer, lawyer, etc) make much more than they actually do. I make more money than my good friend who is an engin...

Re: Georgian and foreign pilots
As well, if Georgian is filling pilot seats on the rj to circumvent paying a better wage through bringing in pilots from other countries, than that is a serious problem for the piloting profession in Canada as well, and needs to be stopped. I am aware of Georgian hiring practices and I know nothing...

Re: Foreign licenced pilots at the controls of Canadian airc
The problem isn't permanent residences, that's how the immigration system works. Welcome to Canada by the way! What people have an issue with is Temporary Foreign Workers. People that have no intention to stay and are only here because the company they work for claims they can't find adequate Canad...

Re: Georgian and foreign pilots
Most people have no issues with pilots who come in Canada and obtain the right to work. I have some friends who have the PR and they have left everything 8-9 years ago to immigrate. I respect that. . Fair enough, and it is the same the world over. As someone who has worked in about 12 countries, pe...

Re: Foreign licenced pilots at the controls of Canadian airc
I am retracting my last sentence if you bring reciprocity as a balance.. I'm a PR card holder here with Canadian wife and son, from New Zealand where plenty of Canadians immigrate. I'm amazed at the amount of people that still think I am 'taking away' Canadian jobs. There are 9,475 New Zealanders l...

Re: Georgian and foreign pilots
Anecdotally, I have heard that there are foreign pilots flying Georgian airplanes, such as Aussies and Kiwis. And these pilots are not people that have immigrated to Canada permanently.. How did you deduce from an accent that a person hasn't immigrated permanently? I don't know of one georgian pilo...

Re: Foreign licenced pilots at the controls of Canadian airc
I'm a Canadian and I've been at the controls of aircraft in many countries, that were registered to those countries. I don't see why the other way around should be banned. You flew foreign registered aircraft operating commercial flights for a foreign operator in the operators' country with your Ca...

Re: Georgian and foreign pilots
is there is a reciprocal program in place so that Canadian pilots can fly in the countries that are represented in the Georgian flight decks? I'm a PM card holder here with Canadian wife and son, from one of the quoted countries (NZ) with plenty of Canadians immigrating. I'm amazed at the amount of...

Pilot Parking at YYZ
Hi All, I have just got a job flying with an airline in Toronto coming from YYC. I need to arrange accommodation out there and that will depend on whether it is better to drive to work than be near public transportation. Is there parking for staff at the airport or am I going to be paying through th...
