Re: Foreign pilots: a few questions to Transport Canada

Again with all due respect Gilles your agenda is anti-competion. Your arguments have evolved to include the issues you mention above but that certainly is not the original intent. while I see you are online and in the interest of consistency within the contexts of your body or argument, would you ca...

Re: Foreign pilots: a few questions to Transport Canada

Preliminary report indicate a mental illness. This has absolutely nothing to do with TFW pilots, Canadian taxation, pay to work or anything else that canjet and sunwing are doing. Stick to fact and stop grasping at straws to make a point. I find it interesting that there were two unfortunate acciden...

Re: Is it true SWG is only hiring Canadian pilots this year?

What do you figure is the savings to have a foreign pilot over a seasonal or full time cdn pilot? Say for the first year including initial training and then also for consecutive years where you could amortize the the initial training over multiple years. What is the cost to train and pay a full time...

Re: Pilots who pay to fly

My cousin was hired by a European carrier after only 100 hours. He paid for the first 100 hours but nothing else. was hired as a cadet, given a type rating and is now very involved in training and checking. I guess then, at the time he first flew commercially in an airliner (after only 200 hours) he...

Re: Sunwing discriminates against Canadian pilots

I'm getting so ****ing sick of people crapping on Gilles. He is an Air Transat captain and has already "made it" in this industry. What he does is selfless and for the greater good of his colleagues and Canadian pilots in general. If you don't want to support his efforts, thats fine, but don't disc...

Re: Sunwing is hiring seasonal pilots

Yes, the Sunwing pilots were detained and it's my understanding that one of the pilots was refused entry to work in the UK! Obviously, proper paperwork wasn't filed or given to the pilots! Can someone elaborate on this? You are probably right. If one pilot is returned to Canada, obviously the compa...

Loops,

If you are on that side of security clearly you passed the screening and are no threat to the public or yourself. You should be allowed to eat a steak with ninja stars if you want.

Re: Loss of licence insurance for airline pilots

You need an FAA medical to qualify or you need to maintain an FAA medical to be insured? i.e. Can I submit for an FAA medical and be granted insurance then not get any further FAA medical and still keep the insurance?

You're right, there is no correlation between ground schools and pool size/interviews. Oxi was way out of line with his/her reply.

"However, 280,000 options granted to him over the past two years were cancelled at his request."

There is only one reason to cancel options...he sees no value in them, i.e. he doesn't think the stock value will increase. That is somewhat telling of his mid to long term view of air Canada.

Re: AC Starting Salary

I was hired last year (EMB FO). I just ran through my bank deposits for the last year for you, and here's what I got: - My after-tax TAKE HOME for the first year was right around $36,000, or roughly (depending on how much flying I did) $3000/month. To put it in perspective, I work for a company as ...
