Hi,
For the PPL flight test, a navlog for the x-country had to be written out for WCA, TAS, variation, etc.
For an IFR flight test, can a nav log be generated by ForeFlight or does it all have to be done by hand again.
Asking for a friend.

Re: Airplane stuck in the states
A couple things: I just heard of a GA pilot getting sent to the Trudeau Hilton after arriving back in Canada on a GA flight to the US. Ugly and expensive story. m Do you have some more details about that? Did they give the pilot a reason why he couldn't qualify for the crew exemption? GA, non-comme...

Float Rating near Collingwood, ON
Hi,
Is there an FTU or group that can train toward a float rating in the areas of Collingwood, Edenvale, Wiarton or Owen Sound?
I have some time this summer while up north and thinking about getting that rating.
Thanks!

Re: Closing airspace
I think this would depend where you live and the kind of GA flying you do. If you're on the west coast and decide to go VFR in and around the mountains, or over the terrain of Northern Ontario/Quebec/elsewhere, I think that is reckless at this time. If you want to fly in and around where there are o...

Re: Waiting on my medical from TC - to start or not to start flight training?
A couple question.... Do you have your PPL already? Doesn't sound like it. If you are just starting your training why not go for a class 3 medical to start with. Would you be okay starting your dual training, as you don't really need your medical until you solo. Getting to the solo would depend on h...

FIC provides free weather briefings.
As i have read in here before...the pilot used every skill, training and experience to prevent the aircraft from losing control and hitting terrain.

I think another problem was density altitude. He probably had full tanks, with a density altitude above 7000 feet. No wonder his lift wasn't feeling so great. 1. low pressure (29.89) 2. Big bear city is at ~6700 MSL 3. Temperature 5*C However, I will never double guess a pilot's decision if they fee...

Re: PFC or Glacier Air
I think you mean aerobatic, not acrobatic. Although, Jessie could provably teach a few acrobatic moves, too. Their instructors provide incredible VFR training in the mountains (pilotage), Glass G airspace, emergency procedures in tight valleys and rivers, and learning what wind shear is like on shor...

Re: Mountain checkout
My first flight lesson from a very experienced mountain trained instructor was incredibly detailed and specific.
1. Mountains don't move
2. Don't hit the mountain
It got a bit more detailed after that.

The BCGA has an incredibly active community exchanging information and planning outings for local sand bar landings. And as mentioned before, there is an active and growing list of backcountry airstrips and locations if you become a member of the bcga.
