Re: IATA Warning for Canadian Aviation Sector
The quarantine is killing aviation. One week vacation turns into three. Lots more people would travel if there was no quarantine period.

Re: New Facebook Group for laid off Canadian Aviation workers
How about an ex Georgian laid off pre Covid cannot possibly find any work because of massive COVID layoffs ? Does that qualify him ? We have a laid off Tim Hortons employee in YUL on the Group. Many other recognized him and greeted him. That’s great the ex tim hortons employee was welcomed openly, ...

Re: Non Aviation Employers Don't Respect Pilot Experience
I have been out of my previous field of work for 5 years and would love to jump back into it even if I was getting a new grad salary. Instead I am getting rejected from interviews because they think I am not current in my field. I am starting to think I have to lie or go back to school to land a ha...

Re: New Bottom Feeder's
If nobody took the flat pay they would have to change it. One could argue that everyone who took it was a bottom feeder at one point.

Re: Traning bond or ... non flying job
The money previously collected from our pay has been spent long ago. The money being thrown around now will most definitely cause an increase in income tax, HST, property tax and result in a change to primary residence capital gains exemptions. The money being thrown around now will Not be paid off ...

Re: Traning bond or ... non flying job
If you are receiving COVID pay (supplemented by Jazz) you are probably getting about the same as a 703 operator can afford to pay anyway, so unless you REALLY need the flight time, DON'T do it. And there lies a real problem with these support programs. People have the attitude that they have the ri...

I have seen some laid off airline pilots taking corporate jobs that were regularly turned down pre covid because the pay was too low. People need to eat.

Just relating my personal experiences. As I said before, customs officers seem to interpret the rules differently in many cases.

Re: Airplane stuck in the states
Johnny So, obviously you aren’t an airline pilot or flying for a commercial air operator in Canada. A collection of pilot friends couldn’t possibly have it wrong so I must be. Thanks for clearing that up. Gino Under I choose to listen to what Canada customs told me rather than someone on the intern...

Re: Airplane stuck in the states
Just going by what Canada customs told me and many other pilots I know. There is no requirement to quarantine upon returning to Canada. Sorry it goes against your interpretation of the regs.

Re: Airplane stuck in the states
I just drove across the border coming back from training. I was told there is no requirement for me to quarantine. Being a pilot has everything to do with it. You are providing an essential service by operating an aircraft. If you had to quarantine everytime you crossed a border you would not be abl...
