Re: Landsdowne House. Right Now?

That's great. This has to be the worst time of year to do a forced approach because even though it's freezing cold you can't trust the ice. Anyone have any thoughts of what's best to touchdown on right now? Clearings could have swamp and liquid water under the snow and ice. The last thing you want i...

Re: Landsdowne House. Right Now?

Anyone know if they got these guys out? From what I heard on the radio it was YDK and that the mayday was for an engine failure. TC's site says that is a Wilson's Stationary Cessna 206. I really hope they are ok and aren't spending the night in the bush.

Re: License Booklet question...

Just carry both booklets. Why would the medical stamp be good for only 90 days? There is no need for a sticker unless you are upgrading from a Cat 3 to a Cat 1 or something. It's all just stamps now that indicate when your last medical was done.

Re: New 703 flight duty times

they were a long time coming and I'm glad they are almost here. Almost here for 704/705 maybe. 702/703 will have 24 months to implement it so it's still a ways off for them. I know this will be an issue for some companies that operate their crews to max duty all the time but I don't think it takes ...

Re: Air Canada Mayday?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AEnoM8qHP2s&feature=youtu.be Well done. They said they lost flaps and autopilots. Do you think there was more control problems on top of that? They mentioned they might not be able to maintain 3000 feet. Would that be due to flight control issues or is it just really...

Re: Malaysia Airlines 777 - Missing

Pilot Zaharie Shah named as ‘chief suspect’ by Malaysian investigators after plans for Indian Ocean flight found on simulator. Investigators have previously refused to “clear” the captain’s flight simulator of suspicious activity, and it now appears they found evidence of routes programmed to take a...

Hudwin Lake, MB airstrip

Anyone know what this disused airstrip was built for? It looks like some fairly large buildings there too.

Re: The most interesting pilot in the world

-When he requests Special VFR it's just called VFR
-He once delivered a baby in flight, and still passed his ride
-He must keep the seat belt sign on to prevent spontaneous standing ovations

He is the most interesting pilot in the world. Stay current, my friends.

Does any site besides Nav Canada host GFAs?

I can't seem to access Nav Canada's website this morning. I can find Metars and TAFs on other sites but I can't find the GFA's. If anyone can see them could you please post gfacn33 12z and 18z Clouds and Weather and Icing and Turbulence? Thanks.

Re: Air Canada 787

Looks like regular economy on the 787 will be the same width and pitch as the high density 777 so I'll probably avoid it. The regular 777 has an extra 1.5 inch width and 1 inch more pitch. I think you said your company pays for first class though so you should check it out since it has the pods.

Re: Malaysia Airlines 777 - Missing

A Malaysia Airlines spokesman today contested reports that Rolls Royce received bursts of engine information from missing flight MH370, insisting that the data link was severed the same moment the plane dropped off civilian radar.

http://i.imgur.com/p79fcLy.png Apparently this is the range the plane could have flown from it's last known position. To add fuel to the conspiracy theories there were 20 employees of a US microchip maker on-board. http://www.reuters.com/article/2014/03/10/us-malaysia-airlines-freescale-analysis-id...
