Re: Pilots Support Retirement

JayDee, Nice try. The equivocation you provide is illogical and fallacious. You signed a contract (through your collective bargaining agent) agreeing to retire at age 60. I have to brush up on some case law, but if I recall, collective bargaining rights trump individual rights, which is sometimes b...

Re: Enerjet

Looks like the chatter I posted over a week ago was true - dry lease to a european operator. If I were to guess this is to try and staunch the lease bleeding - but what about the employees? Temporary layoffs? Permanent? Regardless good luck to the employees there.....if WJA is hiring as many as is r...

Rumour has it that one a/c will be leaving for Europe on a long term dry lease any day now - so it appears they still can't find work.

Jinky is spot on - with both posts. No need for me to expand. No work, no fly, no business to exist. As I've said many times here, it's not personal - it's simple math.

Jetsgo was selling seats up to 12 hours before they closed the doors so that means zip.

The difference being is that at least Jetsgo had passengers to fly around....

Canadian North and Air Canada co-ordinate Arctic schedules

EDMONTON — Canadian North and Air Canada are planning to share some services and co-ordinate schedules in the Arctic. Canadian North will perform ground handling services for Air Canada at Iqaluit, starting March 28, and adjust its schedule between the Nunavut capital and Ottawa to connect with Air ...

Re: Canjet losing Transat flying?

Tough thing about the internet and posting - you can't see my tongue firmly implanted in my cheek.... My point is that if the $85k/year is true, then CanJet Capt's are WAY underpaid relative to the rest of the industry - and it sucks because all it does it accelerate the race to the bottom. Plain an...

Re: Canjet losing Transat flying?

Why would AT take the flying away from CanJet? They have an agreement with CJ management to pay their NG Captains $85k a year! Can't beat a deal like that! Heck for that price, they should should give the widebodies to CJ as well!

Heard on the street that one plane is leaving at the end of the month on a dry sub-lease.

No mention of layoffs but how do you keep 100+ people employed for one aircraft that never flies?

Isn't Lamberton considered one of the best marketing guys in the industry? If so and now he's just a consultant? Who resigned from both the Board and as VP - so what does that tell you? I'm sure that staying on as a "consultant" is purely about optics - don't want to totally torpedo Tim publicly. S...

I have no axe to grind whatsoever. As Jinky said, I'm just pointing out the facts. And Firebag start up doesn't mean they are doing the work. I just feel bad for the guys that are there that may have to dust off the resume if things don't pick up. It's just math..

Re: Air Transat Fleet

321 would seem to make more sense than -800's if for nothing else common type rating (??), parts possibly, and a highly subsidized offer from EADS. Although I couldn't tell you range/payload differential between the 321 and the -800 - maybe that's the show stopper.... I wonder what CanJet will do wi...
