Re: Lifeguard (Skyservice)

I would think that if you are rated, and flying a 35, they go away, and you refuse to sign a bond for the 45, you have just relieved yourself of being employable. Much like letting your medical expire. Nothing at all like letting your medical expire. If you don't renew your medical, the company can...

Re: Entry DSLR -- Help me blow some money

If your budget can afford it buy IS (Canon) or VR (Nikon) lenses. You can purchase a higher aperture lens for less money. Image stabilization can often permit the use of shutter speeds 2–4 stops slower (exposures 4–16 times longer), although even slower effective speeds have been reported.

Re: Entry DSLR -- Help me blow some money

As said above...spend the money on the lenses. Bodies will come and go. Great lenses are FOREVER. I shoot Canon L series only and will never go back. Handle the different brands--what feels good in your hands? What feels natural & intuitive? One make is likely to stand out. Once you buy a brand you'...

Tremors of Unprofessionalism

Tremors of unprofessionalism are being felt across the aviation industry. The 8.0 earthquake of a mass casualty aviation mishap caused by a lack of professionalism has yet to strike, but those of us who keep our ears to the ground understand that something extremely serious is going on beneath the ...

Re: Medical placement in New License Booklet

So I place this new picture on the next page on the left side where these markers are? Correct Ah I don't I have my license in front of me, but the descriptions on how and where to place the stickers are outlined in the booklet itself. My experience as an ACP, who regularly has to check the Aviatio...

Speed below 10,000'

For all you guys who give us instructions aloft:
I am a pilot attempting to wade my way through MANOPS. Other than Military, airshows or Minimum Safe Speed, is there any allowance for ATC to issue/allow a speed greater than 250kts below 10,000'? The question was raised on a PPC ride.

Thanks

Re: Newbe to jets, tips and tricks?

Your training Captain will most likely talk about being way out in front or your aircraft: ie power management. Ditto to what others have said about the lack of instant response when reducing thrust levers. Learn to set the levers based on % then leave them alone ... Watch what happens... Leave them...

Desperate for your help in central Ontario......

Hi Everyone, Anna and I recently received information about a rumoured quarry project outside of Shelburne north of Toronto. We have found information on what is, in fact, a proposed massive open pit limestone mine (aka “quarry”) that is almost too staggering to comprehend. Believe me, this is not a...

Re: Close Call at CYBW...

What you should do about it is your personality. What do you want to happen? Do you want him/her violated? Do you want them strung from the nearest tree? Or, are you willing to say that they made a mistake, one that was potentially lethal. I would bet that if they were any kind of pilot that they ha...

Re: ATPL?

What is your end goal? Some operations only require CPL while others require an ATPL or IATRA. You will not see the left seat in a jet operation without ATPL; IATRA for right seat.
