Re: Living near YYZ/YTZ
So it is basically not possible to own a house until you are in your 30s if you base out of yyz/ytz (porter)? AC is not much better. FOs I've flown with have been getting by via various means. Some have partners that work. Some budgeted for this at their old job. Many older FOs are from the PML so ...

Re: Living near YYZ/YTZ
AC is not much better. FOs I've flown with have been getting by via various means. Some have partners that work. Some budgeted for this at their old job. Many older FOs are from the PML so they got their top up. Some live with parents. Some have roommates and are extremely frugal. One has confessed ...

Re: Hi-Fly A340 Fuel Jettison During Landing MCO
Hey Eric, does it use vacuum/pressure to suck or push out the fuel or is there an actual pump to pump out the fuel? Based on the fact its still pissing away on landing I guess it may be a pump.

Re: The Air Canada OTS thread
I hope any AT guys don't get too worried. There are many of us at AC that will be happy to have you're experience join us in the flight deck. I don't get too wrapped up with work and the chips will fall where they do. Lets keep the politics to managment. Look forward to buying the beer on any layove...

Re: Working at Air Canada if you don't drink
Some guys go and get pissed on long layovers and others excercise and head out for a run or hike in the AM the next morning not feeling like a pile of piss and some others keep to themselves. While I do drink socially, often I am more keen to wake up early and get some fresh air. Ive never felt bad ...

Re: Maximum important headset advice!
Take a look at the clarity alofts. I have flown with them in various small airplanes including noisy Harvard, C185 and Pitts, metro (very noisy) and an airbus and they are very comfortable and quiet. No batteries required (no ANR). I have had mine for about 10 years and over 7000 hours. Only issue w...

If I recall correctly that DC10 job was 110k a year, so not worth the time.
I agree as above. There are a few contract jobs that cab work you out of YVR. May be your best bet.

Re: New Arbitrated Contract
I think a lot ACPA guys/gals just reversed their opinion on merging with ALPA..... Yes and no. It does seem that in hindsight going for the strike may have made sense and the arbitration seemed to have been a bad choice. Don't underestimate the dissatisfaction with ACPA leadership though. The YYZ L...

At work we have an ipad with Jepps all loaded up plus slme otger handy apps.
When I am flying for fun I am pretty old school, yes I use a GPS if available but i primarily reference paper VNC or VTAs as well as a CFS. I dont do any IFR flying for fun so no need for any approach plates.

The uniforms are peices of sh¡t. The less time in them the better. The VF uniform, while still a bulk purchased uniform was okay. Unysync is terrible, with worse customer service.

TC will have to come up with a rule, too many PPLs bombing around, something will have to be published I would hope. AC is also in a tough position possibly more with ramp personal in a safety position without a license but will be interesting to see.

Re: Airbus VS Boeing
I fly an Airbus in Canada and my airline encourages hand flying in thr FOM. I encourage my FOs to fly with what ever level of automation they feel is right. Sadly some of them have thanked me after as they feel most times when they want to hand fly they are a burden to their parter so for me to ment...

That's not true almost all overtime at rouge is 2.5x. Not true? What I said was exactly true. Almost all? Hardly. What I said is exactly true... plenty of VO being done at 1.5. Whatever peoples motives, or whether I agree it's irrelevant.... I just call it like I see it... OT, Draft, whatever... bu...

Re: 436 Vacancies Until Summer 2019
Problem at the LCC is many won't wait for draft and go to work for 1.5x pay only, scooping your chance at 2.5x... and the awards aren't very transparent. OT at mainline pays the 1.5x if you are working a full block, + another .5 if you're over 85 hours, so mostly at double time... FWIW. I don't see...

Re: Does the trainer you start with important?
Like others have said if you want to become the best pilot you can:
Find a good experienced instructor.
Fly as frequently as possible.
Do your PPL on a tailwheel if possible.
Once you're done your PPL fly all the types you can get your hands on.
Avoid glass as long as possible.

Re: Everyday at WJ : union busting
Ahh, I see what you did there. You went to the "take home pay". Well, if we're playing that game, I didn't take home $387,000 in 2017. Another point, how long have you been flying for WJ, and how many failed airlines do you have in your past? I'm on my 4th airline (not my choice) and I've been here...

Re: North America 737/320 Pay Round-up
At both Rouge and Mainline its 12 years with the company.
Not sure how FOs are at WS and Sunwing etc but at Rouge on the airbus I made 140k at year 5 for 2017. That's with some OT but still a pretty good work life balance. Some FOs can make more than that if you're willing to work more days.
