Re: Flair Hiring Freeze?
Sort of true. We're adequately staffed for the summer and will continue to run courses later in the year to account for any attrition if required. We are working with the MEC on a variety of scheduling initiatives including reduced blocks and partial schedules, especially for our over 65 pilots who ...

Re: ground schools canceled
Does anyone have any updates on this one? Are we still looking at likely a 2024 resumption for ground school starts? TIA. We are tentatively planning a May 23rd ground school to cover an increase in block hours per aircraft. Primarily YEG openings. Any Ground school planned after May 23rd? reply wi...

Re: WestJet Group Pilot Jumpseat Access
That was a classy move Tbaylx. ALPA mentioned it in today’s comm: Furthermore, we are humbled by the generous offer received from Flair Airlines to reinstate our suspended jumpseat agreement for the duration of any labour action. We remind pilots that our Flair agreement was weaponized, then subseq...

WestJet Group Pilot Jumpseat Access
In light of recent WestJet lockout/strike notice, Flair has elected to reopen our jumpseats to Westjet group pilots for the duration of any labor dispute and hopefully beyond should reciprocal agreements be restored. Pilots can book online using MYID Travel for travel on Friday, May 13th onwards. Al...

Re: ground schools canceled
Growth continues, 2 planes are joining the fleet in the next 3 months. Unfortunately since we saw 4 planes taken away in early March, the planes we added in the months since then and then those 2 other joining the fleet soon have added up, but not as much as we originally planned. That being said, ...

Re: ground schools canceled
Any further updates on ground schools? Thanks After monitoring our resignation rate we will not require a May course. We will reevaluate for June sometime in the next few weeks. We may run ad-hoc courses throughout the remainder of 2023 depending on attrition. Any updates? We aren't yet seeing the ...

Re: Aiming for the bottom
As stated, Flair plans to succeed by appealing to the "bottom" of the market place. I see risk with this strategy, hope the "bottom" are not offend by this sentiment. https://www.msn.com/en-ca/travel/news/not-every-airline-can-succeed-in-canada-s-crowded-market-flair-ceo/ar-AA1aEDFw?ocid=msedgdhp&p...

Re: Sunwing/Westjet
Would Sunwing hire anyone from Westjet before the deal is official and the ink is wet ? Afterwards, I would guess it would be no. but before ? asking for a friend. He only has 2 years worth of mainline seniority. That would be extremely foolish to give up two years of seniority right before a likel...

We are tentatively planning a May 23rd ground school to cover an increase in block hours per aircraft. Primarily YEG openings. Thanks for the speedy reply! Have calls already gone out for the May 23rd GS? TIA. Not yet, we're still discussing the class size and the course is still tentative. We have...

Re: Flair Airlines - Planes seized
I read that and all I see is that nobody wants to do business with airborne Capital any more. They have sewered themselves now. I read it and see the exact opposite. I see that Flair are now coming up with extremely creative excuses for flight cancellations: https://www.vancouverisawesome.com/trave...

Re: Random Phone Call
In regards to a major 705 carrier calling for a resume update. Just for a second lets take a collective breath and think where this industry is now vs 5-10 years ago. No longer does a up and coming pilot need to .. run valleys in the north while waking up every 3 hours during the night to ensure th...

Re: ground schools canceled
So Tbaylx, Are you suggesting these 4 people did not get hired by Lynx? Or did they lie about their qualifications and work history? What part is untrue about that statement? Pretty sure there are indeed more people than you care to admit jumping ship maybe? I'm not sure what to tell you, I have th...

Re: ground schools canceled
I was just in the latest Lynx Ground School course. Out of the 10 candidates, four were Flair Captains. That is untrue unless they are still employed by Flair at the same time. We have had only one pilot ( a captain) resign and go to Lynx since Jan 2022 and that was as an immediate reaction to the ...

Re: Meanwhile in 'Merica
Google WestJet circular 2019. This would be our last annual circular prior to going private. There is an entire section dedicated to executive compensation. Find page 46. There are 20 comparators listed. 40% of them are American. So. Tell me why it is ok to use American salaries as a comparator whe...

Re: Career choice
15 new positions I'm sure, and not to replace the 15+ captains that have left. Definitely not that. They are new positions required to support the summer schedule. We've had very few captain resignations. Yup! Just like everything was rosy at flair till the world found out they weren't paying their...

Re: Career choice
Lol just look at what he's saying. It's blatant lies and hypocrisy. That's the problem. Like Tbayer said, he's talking about "uncertainty" at WJ and 10yr upgrades being a deterrent, meanwhile Flair is having aircraft repossessed...pretty big deterrent if you ask me. Not to mention they've paused al...
