Re: Cessna 172 cuts off Lear 60 at YQA Muskoka . . on purpose .

In my opinion the Lear did nothing wrong except maybe wait to long to take action against conflicting traffic. The cessna pilot displayed extremely poor airmanship in this case. So did the Lear pilot. Why take the opposing runway? Get there 3 minutes earlier? Why request the IFR approach if it wasn...

Re: Exam formulas

Probably all the MACs formulas... If you're a little bit mathematically inclined, you're probably able to figure those ones out by yourself.

Re: Cessna 172 cuts off Lear 60 at YQA Muskoka . . on purpose .

We can do 9-10 miles a minute. Whatever you math is... I initiate the call usually around 60 nm (getting center to switch me over and stuff) Slowing down 300 kts means going from a GROUND SPEED(that's what important right?) of roughtly 550 kts to roughly 250 kts, which is well possible at 230 below ...

It's actually 5 minutes prior to commencing the approach for IFR traffic... For a full procedure approach, the approach usually starts over the navaid.

Re: Cessna 172 cuts off Lear 60 at YQA Muskoka . . on purpose .

auxbat: Getting an accurate ETA in a 172 might be easy because your cruise speed is essentially your circuit speed. Getting an accurate ETA when you're going to loose some 300 kts and descend 20 000' proves to be harder (especially with no FMC). That's why there is more than 1 required call, to upd...

Re: Cessna 172 cuts off Lear 60 at YQA Muskoka . . on purpose .

In the last three weeks we have had two sched incidents. One, where the crew of a dash 8 simply did not make any radio calls and arrived (cadors filed), and a second one where they called down wind and final and then landed on the opposite runway... Also probably half a dozen incidents where traffi...

What's wrong with reporting things like that? It doesnt hurt anyone, does it? It might be a little overboard, but, it's better than not reporting anything...

THEICEMAN: actually fuel supply will be given to militaries before it is given to commercial aviation/transport industries.

Re: Unducted Jet Engines.....comming back?

Im thinking (and hoping) the hydrogen age is coming. I can't see that happening. Hydrogen is very hard to carry efficiently and would be very hard to store at an airport (or in an airplane for that matter) in its liquid form (the most desirable form I would say). Plus, where can you find hydrogen i...

Re: Westjet to operate Dash 8's???!!!

Who in this 'flying public' is scared of props? To the aviation enthusiast, turboprops are okay and even very good. However, turboprops tend to be smaller than jets. My parents, when they came down, had to take a Dash 8 to a big airport then a 737 here. Well, they said "We had to stay 1 hour in tha...

Re: What happend to the "engineer" title?

Actually you do need FRICTION to create lift. Dust off your fluid mechanics.... Drag is a component of the aerodynamic force which is also responsible for lift (the aerodynamic force it is). Friction is a REQUIREMENT to have lift. I could dig up my books, but I don't feel like it. And I trust the Do...

Actually, you need to include friction to describe lift. There is no lift in a frictionless environment....
