How is that great for Transat pilots. They will be owned by a real estate company. They care about the hotel properties, not the airline.
Pilots will loose out on the sweet heart deal they would have received at AC. Maybe they will get an employee discount on their next use of a real estate agent.

Re: Air Canada Outbid
Is Transat even allowed to entertain offers right now? Sounds like bargaining in bad faith.
Oh ya. And the under funded real estate company wants the Quebec government to fund the deal. Nice!

Will Transat pilots have DOH with realestate agents when they are bought out by a realestate company?

Re: AC offer AT $13 per share
What if air canada doesn’t actually want to buy it. They put an offer if, but it gets turned down by the completion police.
The precedent is set and onex can’t buy it either.

Re: Encore contract negotiations
Just to keep things in perspective though, Jazz and Sky regional pilots not only don't have YOS, but also no guaranteed flow...perspective! True. Except Jazz and Sky pilots will most likely end up at AC, Not WJ. AC where pay and progression are assured. WJ where you get to aspire to seat right seat...

Re: Encore contract negotiations
Max 16 hr duty day on reserve is an improvement! WTF Max duty day is 14 hours. However, your duty day must end no more than 16 hours from the start of the callout window. So if your callout window starts at 0330, then whether they call you at 0330 or 1330 the latest they can schedule you to finish ...

Thanks for the replies Pilot4hire and JBI! Not sure about the minority aspect. I am a male and a visible minority. Is that what you are referring to? I have a pretty good career (read: stable but boring) now so I will finish all of my ratings and then instruct on the weekends/evenings while I conti...

Re: Westjet or Sunwing
West jet is much more diversified incase on an economic downturn.
Sunwing transports one type of passenger for one purpose to a limited set of destinations.
Think of where you want to be siting in the next down turn.

Re: Cancelled flights.
Statistics are important, because if it was a one-off anomaly, or even just less frequent than disruptions on competitors on the same route then it really doesn't say anything about the quality of WestJet's service. AC usually just cancels flights outright and gives the pax vouchers to get them to ...

Re: 17 year TA?
Under what conditions will people say enough is enough. Say this 17 year deal is signed. 3 years from now hiring stops, age 65 is now age 95 and no one moves. Now what? What if in 3 years Calin comes to Jazz and says sorry, Sky grows unless you take more concessions, times are tight. This deal could...
