Re: Northern BC Sheep/caribou strips
Hmmm. If I knew of a good place to go land and go sheep hunting in northern BC, I personally wouldn't tell anyone about it. Least of all someone who just moved in. Nothing personal, but that's how it is. I wouldn't get my hopes up. A better idea would be to get involved with some of the folks who li...

I look forward to the next video: "docking on the side with no door in a fast flowing river with wind blowing upstream with one frozen water rudder while 20 people are watching"

Re: TSB report of August 2013 Air Nootka Accident
Wow. Some folks would ease up a bit when it's clear the deceased is a friend of the poster. But I guess making your point is more important eh. Grant was a fine guy. I agree with the op. The TSB can't stand to not stick a label on a crash. "Hit a tree in low VMC" doesn't fit any of their slots so th...

Re: Bush pilots emergency pack
You ll want to get rescued, so a spot or a delorme. Then you ll want a fire, so a lighter and good firestarter like zip. Then put up the orange tarp with that rope. Next you ll want a powerbar or better yet a couple freeze dried meals. Chances are good you would bet there overnight, so you will want...

New show to me. A poorly named reality show set in a warmer place. Looks pretty nice this time of year.

Re: FlightExec gear problem - North Bay
Is that feathered or not feathered debate really a thing? I'm not concerned about "correct" or "legal" or if it's a checklist item. In that situation I can't really imagine being concerned about anything except what RPM the big metal thing next to my ear is going to be turning at when it hits the gr...

Re: Renew group 3 instrument rating or upgrade to group 1?
This is a vey unpleasant reality, but if your marriage dictates you being home every night in a big city, getting started in Canadian aviation will be difficult. Not impossible, just a lot less likely. Bear in mind that not every move away from the city will be to a miserable hole though. I think th...

Equal pay for equal work...as far as I can tell, everyone's doing essentially the same thing as when they got their first job-pushing and pulling various levers, trying not to screw up or forget anything important. So ya. By all means, pay everyone the same amount. Starting wage for a C180 driver or...

It was either a pretty radical run up or a pretty radical whirlwind. Who knows which.

Hart air might do that. Google will help. You need to be legal to work here. It's not a "simple way of life".

Anytime a caravan is forced down in the dark nowhere near a runway and nobody is hurt it counts as a success I would say.

+1 to the above. If you have to resort to creative thinking outside the manual to keep going, I'm confident your passengers, maintainers and employer would all be happiest if you just came back. Particularly the separator thing-it's there to prevent engine damage that could potentially cause problem...

Re: Air Tindi Pilot "Hero" for Flying into FRDZ
Not knowing what he knew when he took off, I won't say much about decision making. However, it was dark, he was scared, in a very tight spot that he put himself into. However, he sounded exceptionally calm which counts huge in my book. And in response to what was said earlier, in the dark in a carav...
