Re: IFR Take Off Considerations
Correct me if I am wrong, but single engine in a twin you do not need to meet the climb gradients on the charts, you only need to make sure you don't hit anything. My initial thought was that you still need to outclimb the obstacle clearance surface, which I thought was 48'/NM less than the publish...

Re: Never Before Seen Vaccine Injury/Death Tracking System
In addition, 28,065 people have died that are over the age of 80 within 14 days of receiving the Covid-19 vaccine. Not that deadbear has said anything insightful regarding covid from what I've seen, but I'd like to point out why statements like this are not shocking or indicative of any issues to t...

Re: Take the vaccine, or lose your job - WTF?
I don't accept that this will take as long as it takes, or as long as hospitals are full we need measures. Fix the hospitals, it's not like we are short that many beds. You could hire 15k people across the country and that would solve bed issues (let's be honest we probably have this staff in our m...

Re: Take the vaccine, or lose your job - WTF?
How much did we spend to develop those vaccines? Why didn't we put this money in hospitals?? They would have plenty of space, with equipment and staff. To treat covid and everything else. Canada's total commitment for covid vaccines, including procurement, logistics, future follow on contracts, and...

Except that Japan never did approve ivermectin as a treatment for covid, despite the recommendation from the chairman of the Tokyo Metropolitan Medical Association. But yes, Japan FTW.

Re: Take the vaccine, or lose your job - WTF?
Unfortunately the staffing issues plaguing Alberta health are a long term issue that predates the pandemic. Even in 2009 Alberta had one of the lowest numbers of ICU beds per capita (although BC was worse, they have a surge reserve). By 2015 the number of beds had was the same (in spite of increasin...

Re: U.S. vaccinated military pilots - flight surgeon grounding
If she is grounding pilots who were vaccinated because she believes the risk of myocarditis and micro clots is too high, shouldn't she also be grounding people who have had covid since their risk of those conditions is equal or higher? Seems like her conclusion is based on the comparison of mortalit...

Re: Vaccines for kids near approval.
Yes, the 84 pediatric deaths was from the whole of the reporting period in Texas, although 27 of them were in the last month (6 in the under 10 group). I'm curious where you get your flu death number from, as most sources report influenza and pneumonia from all causes together. The "70% infection ra...

Re: Vaccines for kids near approval.
When evaluating a risk/reward ratio of a particular treatment population, if you only look at your own population for a risk signal (such as number of deaths) then you will always be treating the population after the outbreak has occurred. This is why the people developing flu vaccines every year lo...

Re: WHO children should NOT be vaccinated for Covid
What we do know is that COVID is a nasty disease that disproportionately carries off people with underlying health conditions that would otherwise not be fatal. Many of us know people with such conditions and we want them to live. For me, that includes my brother, my mother, my father in law, sever...

Re: WHO children should NOT be vaccinated for Covid
Ok, so you were referring primarily to younger children (under 12) and the lack of need to vaccinate them due to the mild nature of their disease. Fair enough, no disagreements on that one. Btw, do you have a link to the study from which you pulled the table above? I like to read the actual studies ...

Re: WHO children should NOT be vaccinated for Covid
Montando, is your discussion about children aged 12-18, or those those under 12? You say your kids will not be getting a covid vaccine, but if they're under 12 then there is no choice in the matter; they would not be getting vaccinated anytime soon even if you wanted them to. If your kids are over 1...

Show me something that says MP has a treatment protocol involving ivermectin and that you didn't just plainly make that up. Also, on what map are UP and Kerala neighbouring provinces? They're literally on opposite ends of the country. I suppose you could be forgiven for not knowing that since you ju...

Uttar Pradesh was a huge success case. In fact, if you look at two Indian provinces that are next to each other geographically, you can clearly see which one adopted the use of this drug and which one didn't: pradesh.png It's such a blatant difference that there is no denying the absolute effectiven...

Re: How difficult is it to become an RCAF pilot?
I would actually advise against joining the reserves in another trade if the goal is to be a pilot. That may have been a good route in the past, but in recent years it often takes longer to do a component transfer than it does to get it off the street.

You're assigning malicious intent where there was none. I was merely posting an interesting scientific analysis on the topic at hand, and making a relevant observation that we can't even seem to agree on what the facts are, even when they are readily available. Because to many people, it's not abou...

Re: Take the vaccine, or lose your job - WTF?
I was not talking about vaccines in general, but about this particular vaccine, against covid, and what you said about mutations. Most of the vaccines prevent the transmission, so they reduce the risk of mutations (so are efficient in getting rid of the virus). But this covid vaccines do not reduce...

Re: Cost for Private Pilots Licence in Canada for International Students
I met a guy once who had the better part of 1000 hrs and didn't ever take a flight test to get his PPL. I doubt his flights were signed off by an instructor as "training flights" as most people that knew him didn't realize he didn't have a license. That only surfaced after he crashed at night in smo...
