Re: Upgrade Times
Think the most junior left seat on the most recent bid is a 2019 doh. Not very good at all. Im guessing this will be lower in the near future. But probably not instant like YYZ. Not very good at all? FYI, less than 5 years to go captain of a 705 plane in the nicest base in the country is unpreceden...

Re: Interview dress code
I'd recommend suit, tie and polished shoes, if you have a beard give it a trim, fresh hair cut, if you don't have a beard obviously shave. If you're a woman, one simple earring per side and tidy hair. When I interviewed someone showed up in a open collar dress shirt and an Adidas track style light j...

Re: Sleeping aids
Any pilot here who has delt with insomnia. Is there medications a pilot can take that's stronger than melatonin. I haven't dealt with it, my wife has though. You may have to find out why you're having trouble winding down, is it anxiety, PTSD, sleeping environment? It's likely that the insomnia is ...

Since LOU74 was paused, I doubt many guys are earning 275k or over on the NB. When LOU74 in force there were lots of guys doing well.

Re: Do you think Flair is a stable career choice?
No one would be able to tell me you with a straight face that they can 100% guarantee flair will be around for your career. Not sure what's in your log book, but if you lack PIC time or jet time, the 737 type rating and if you could get 1,000 737 PIC would help you out in the long term. It flair end...

Re: bumping first class passengers for deadhead crew
First of all, you were not booked in First Class. Air Canada hasn’t sold a First Class ticket in over 25 years. As well noted above, Captains, First Officers and Augment First Officers are contractually given a Business Class seat when DeadHeading. RPs in Economy, pending space in Business or Premi...

Re: bumping first class passengers for deadhead crew
it was a full fair J class paid back in April to the Caribbean. They got me bumped to the back. for a junior first officer so he could sit up in business class. better get used to it more passengers, complaining wherever they can. I can appreciate your frustration, but blaming the "junior first off...

Re: bumping first class passengers for deadhead crew
Thank you but that seems a little bit ridiculous it is a very bad look and the pilot should take the highroad and actually sit in the back in my opinion if you could send me the reference for the contract, I’d be appreciated I'm not going to share company material. I've already highlighted the reas...

Re: bumping first class passengers for deadhead crew
Captains and FOs have a contractual right to sit up front with a few exceptions (last minute changes, if already full). If the company didn't book the seats at the first opportunity and J is full, the CAs or FOs have the right to bump a revenue passengers. It's not a good look, but it's the company'...

Re: Latest MEC Bulletin
The jazz guys and girls are for the most part great, but so too are outside hires. Giving preferential treatment to one group and let them grab a number prior to PIT course hurts the profession as well as the other pilots who are here already contributing to the button line. So flying AC customers ...

Re: Latest MEC Bulletin
Outlaw58 and flyingcanuck, you are exhibiting a very typical Jazz pilot mentality - "if you're already on the property at Air Canada, this doesn't affect you" - without considering all of the factors at play. In case you haven't been following, deferred seniority dates cannot be implemented at AC w...

Re: Latest MEC Bulletin
There should be absolutely zero deferred seniority dates reserved for anyone not on property. Come on property and get a seniority number as simple as that.

Re: YUL Meeting
Not really anti pilot. I mean the target isn't anti pilot, the results certainly are. Over the past decade many at ACPA have been sold a story how if we give up a concession here and there the company will have success and company success is good for the pilots. 10 year deal = good for buisness 10% ...

Re: YVR/YXX based 705s?
AC's biggest hurdle is the flat pay. Once you're over that you'll be doing okay. You may be able to hold YVR right away, but extremely likely within your first year. Captain upgrades are a bit faster out east so you can get off flat pay within a few years if you're okay bidding to the bottom and liv...

Re: Year 1 take home pay YUL
I just finished PIT and can't believe people were happy to get 777, 787, A330 FO spots on flat pay Lowest Paid pilots on the planet and they seem to be OK with it? Well, go back to where you once came. Don’t like it? Leave. Embarrassing. This mentality is the cancer that lingers in our union. Thank...

Re: The Air Canada OTS thread
You can today, but 767F went down to seniority 3000. So someone new coming in today that could be 10 years away when looking at retirements. Good point though, it’s an option to fly big metal for those that are interested in that. Yes. But flying a WB for NB pay is nothing to brag about. What NB CA...

Re: How long to hold yvr base
Short answer, quickly. Prior to COVID and post COVID once we were showing vacancies again it's been one bid generally. If you're awarded something in PIT course that doesn't have a YVR spot you can still hold a YVR base generally on the next bid however it may take some time to train you. So try to...
