Re: Be Ready

Shutting down an entire multi-billion dollar business to show those pilots who is in charge, while not beyond the realm of the possible, would be one of the dumbest decisions in the history of Canadian business. I prefer to think that the emotional maturity of those in charge exceed that of the ave...

When they started in 1996. They were the Lynx/Flair of the day but at least there were equity incentives.

Re: WJ mainline cancelling GS due to lack of experienced applicants

Why leave before the contract gets finalized? Seems like quite a risk losing all those years of seniority. WestJet has their issues but I’ve learned throughout my career the grass isn’t always greener on the other side. Wasn’t long ago AC was garbage and WestJet was the place to be. Could easily cy...

Re: The Air Canada OTS thread

Only what I’ve been told.. but Apparently they were short even before covid. And another 8-900 is for the new duty rules. Add in some retirements, plus jazz repatriation …but I can’t explain the full amount… seems like a lot to me as well.

Re: New hire bids

A 10% raise is NOT enough. That doesn’t even cover inflation. Plus it will just put you in a higher tax bracket so the government thieves will just tax you more. Paying 100% of the benefits would be a huge step forward. The amount of deductions on our pay stubs is very discouraging. Not to be that ...

Re: How long to get YYC base

Many people at WJ will never see a left seat, and for those FOs that have waited patiently for ten+ years it would be unconscionable to accept that someone OTS with a few months seniority is able to keep a captain spot at mainline wages. I'm sure that I'm going to regret saying this, but someone ch...

Your take is lame. We all know the first few years’ pay sucks, but anyone with half a braincell could see why someone might be able to look beyond that. Let the guy enjoy this.

Sure, call it natural, as in we’re naturally speeding things up. Hope the grandkids don’t mind. No one said the earth will disappear, but we might.

*Facepalm* :| Between taking out HELOC's to pay mortgage (another thread) until one hits formula or gunning for overtime out of the gate to make ends meet, it still makes me shake my head why people are clamoring over each other for the opportunity to take a number, and get in line behind 4500 othe...

But would they look kindly on someone who quit jazz just to get around the flow? How long would you have to stay at Flair to be 'forgiven'...

Re: Negotiations

I think pilots overestimate the amount who will just 'leave' because their flow is taking too long. Leave where? This is Canada, if you're at Jazz you've probably had your sights on Big Red the whole time and most aren't going to give that up to gamble at one of the rickety ULCC options. Even if you...

I think they're sitting around being apathetic because they are banking on (or hoping) that they will soon have ~400 SW pilots.

Don't forget Rouge? Something like 60% of the flying is one-day turns currently. Also if you get on relatively soon, you will probably only be reserve for a few months.
