Re: Diabetes paranoia - in desperate need of guidance
Not a Dr., but you sound a little ‘paranoid/hypochondriac’. My sense of it is that if you’re fairly healthy, good BMI, regular exercise, no other symptoms, then you’re probably over-thinking things.. Perhaps go and see your family doc, mention your concerns, and then go from there. Don’t bring Trans...

Reno ends on a sad note.
Tragedy strikes: https://www.cnn.com/2023/09/17/us/reno-nevada-plane-crash/index.html CNN — Two pilots were killed when their planes collided Sunday during the National Championship Air Races and Air Show in Reno, Nevada, organizers of the event said. “Around 2:15 p.m. this afternoon, at the conclus...

Re: WestJet Encore Pilots File Notice to Open Contract Negotiations with Management
Perhaps a little correction is in order - the planes *are not* parked because of a lack of crew - they’re parked because of a lack of pay. If a company were to lead the pack in pay and benefits, then they’d have no problem filling seats.

Re: What Was Aviation Like Back then?
So there’s a PM in my inbox this morning, asking me to chime in as if I’m some sort of old guy with lots of tales of how it was ‘back in the day’…
I flew a piston Otter for a couple of hundred hours, if that counts? (Lol). I even used the water-bombing floats that it had..

Thread locked. While I have sympathy for those who are evacuated/ing, this is not at all aviation related.

Re: CL215 Crash Greece - july 2023
I was always taught that a straight/level run was the goal - ‘dive-bombing’ to be strictly avoided, but it also looks like that was happening here? Little difficult to get perspective on the terrain, though…

Dude, I, and the other mods, have neither the time, nor the inclination, to trawl through every single post and thread on here to see who's panties are getting twisted on a daily basis. If you're that offended, then use the report button (it's the ! ) in the top right of every post, and it will flag...

Re: Is losing your medical common?
At age 25, straight out of Uni/College, no, not common; at 55, after 30 years of poor sleep patterns, crappy meals, and less-than-optimal exercise routines, then it becomes more of a real worry. 'Course by then, your degree is 30 years out-of-date!

Re: Who is the BC Medevac contract going to?
The new contract calls for 10+ new aeroplanes - obviously those can't all be delivered at once, so the plan is, (AFAIK) as the new planes come from the factory, to slowly retire the older machines in favour of the new ones. The Citations will eventually be retired from the BCAS contract, but that wi...

Re: Sky regional 2.0
As a Jazz employee what do you do? Flow through has become a meme, your contract length is embarrassing (no strike or lockout action until 2035), pay is lowest in the industry, now you're losing your flying because of a "bridging clause". Could one of the legal types on here (JBI? Bede?) explain, i...

There are flying jobs for them after 3-500 hours, and some even right after 100. Contrails and other external auditing companies have some jobs minimum 2500-3000 hours. There are definitely gigs for them out there cherry and vineyard drying, flying news 44s, flying crew change machines etc. It all ...
