Re: Getting that first flight instructor job - advise request
Have any previous students gotten jobs outside of the FTU that you attended? Try hitting them up. While I was doing my rating, one of our senior instructors got a CFI job at an FTU in a different city. He called me one day and asked me if I was interested in joining that same FTU once I finished my ...

Re: Are degrees important now?
For your first job, I think you’d be well suited as it is. I would probably concentrate on getting that first job initially, since you have to be prepared to drop life in the city and move away, something that you may not be able to do if enrolled in full time degree. A degree is also not cheap, and...

Re: Aug 7, 2020 - Air India Express 737
For us, it’s a captains only landing, as it’s tricky. A black hole effect, upslope followed by a downslope. Uneven throughout. On a normal day it’s challenging, in heavy rain, TS, windy days, it’s a handful. It always amazes me seeing the Air India 744 at the terminal. Here I am bitching about the p...

Re: Survey on two person in the cockpit rule
The FAA still has the rule. What risk are you talking about? FA’s still come to the flight deck just as much as they always have. Pilots still go to the lav just as much as they always have. Flight attendants have not been banned from the flight deck for any other reason including as JS riders. The...

Re: Survey on two person in the cockpit rule
Your training allows you to sit behind the controls and be one of the flight crew, not enter the door. If Transport Canada and your company didn’t trust you to safely fly the airplane you wouldn’t be regardless of any “two in the FD” policy. As expected, you missed the point completely. For those w...

Re: Survey on two person in the cockpit rule
To gain access to a flight deck you need to be a pilot or F/A (in my airline anyways). Two questions: - how long does it take a pilot to gain access to the flight deck? (From beginning of training until that airline job). (At least a couple of years) - how long does it take an F/A to gain access? (F...

Pakistani CAA issued a video showing marks of where the engines scrapped the runway. 4,500-5,500ft down the runway.

Re: On furlough: Now what?
It’s a great initiative you’re taking, not many would want to hit the books and write papers and exams, especially when they’re working full time. I’ll give you my experience. In my mid 30s I decided to pursue an MSc in an aviation related field. I chose this because I have about 16 years of flying ...

Re: Turkish overrun
Something going on with their operation and Sabiha airport itself. The runway is uneven, sloping up then down, terrible when wet. The ILS for 06 is 3.5 degrees, and standard speeds are 180 to 6 and 160 to 4. Surrounding terrain is all hills, which cause added turbulence on the approach. To maintain ...

Amazing.
Tow driver is not an entry level job. Therefore your racist comment doesn’t hold true. Someone off the plane would start off as a baggage handler, if anything.

Plenty of time? Based on what? Stabilization criteria is not based on time, but height. For us, by 1,500 fully configured. 1,000 fully stable. By 500, speed stable (if given a speed by ATC). I don’t know how they operate, but I’ll check, as we have many pilots from their airline now working with us.

When I was up north I didn't see any visible minorities slinging cases of Pepsi with me but when I got to AC half my class was a minority so they must have got their start somewhere. You'll be fine. Since you cracked it, I’ll let you in on a secret. Pilots who are of a visible minority don’t have t...

I wish I could give you an answer. I don’t bother with the kiosk anymore since I always get flagged due to my Canadian passport. Like yourself, I’ll be the only one from the crew who has to visit the customs officer. I’ve been told many different views, but the one that makes most sense is because w...

AP is required for RVSM, whereas A/THR is not. The above question was with regards to AP no?doiwannabeapilot wrote: ↑Thu May 23, 2019 9:05 amSure, doiwannabeapilot wrote: ↑Thu May 23, 2019 9:03 am
I would like to know what airline has you on an 11 hour flight with no AP ? That's a lot of fuel burned below RVSM.

Quick - name another airline that fully owns their regional feeder. Look at nearly every airline out there and you'll find a feeder owned by someone else with a CPA. American Airlines: - PSA - Piedmont - Envoy Delta Airlines: - Endeavor Air Alaska Air Group - Horizon Air Air France - HOP! Lufthansa...
