Re: Yr 1 FO $130k
The company would love it if pilots settle for year one pay of only $130k… it better be a hell of a lot more than that.

FO has over 13 year’s experience on the 777. The captain even more so. Check your facts.AirCandida wrote: ↑Thu Nov 16, 2023 7:30 pm Wind sock steady and ailerons getting a good work out prior to flair. Text book PIO. Likely another training flight for a new FO fresh off a PC12

Re: Fastest way to get an ATPL from 0 hours? (Jazz Approach)
The Jazz Approach does not get you an ATPL. Getting to Jazz at 250 definitely does not set you up well to get an ATPL. They can always get all the requirements as a copilot, then take some time off to get the PIC (do instructor rating part time while at Jazz, then take 1-2 months off in the summer ...

Re: YYC Rentals Soar to $1800 on Average
One could live in YQF and drive to YYC or YEG for their assignments. You'd make a 2 hour reserve callout easily. Even easier once you can bid for long call or a block of your choice. Must be fun in the dead is winter during a snow storm. Pretty sure you can't say "sorry can't make it in today, it's...

Re: Commuting at Jazz
Also even when you do hold a block, don’t expect much more than 12-13 days off a month due to the inefficient low credit pairings. It’s gotten really bad lately. Yup. If Jazz had a max 16 work day provision it actually could not be applied with the current HIGH block targets and LOW credit pairings...

Always snag. If there's nothing wrong, the AME can do what they do best, and throw a "ground tested serviceable" or "no faults found" as a rectification and you're on your way. Don't ever let anyone strong arm you into making an unsafe move, ever. It's your ass in the seat, not theirs.

Re: Air Canada pilots stand “UNITED”
Why are there CRJ-900 pay rates there? So in the event they do operate them, there is a pre-negotiated rate? Hello? Opposed to ACPA method of “capturing” flying already within our scope by agreeing to a discount. Professional v amateur negotiating. Ok if that the case, why would they not have an E1...

Makes the windshield look all blotchy. Can’t stand polarized glasses for flying. Driving though, they’re a must.

Re: Poll - September 2023 - Days at work pilot vs. 9-5 worker
Exactly. Let’s compare working hours for the 9-5 guy vs working hours (TAFB) for the pilot if you want an apples to apples comparison. None of this “working days” crap.

Except you’ll never be upgradable. Going to a regional without an ATPL is career suicide right now. Your gut instinct is correct, go up north for a year or two, get some hours and experience under your belt, and then join an airline.

Re: Pulling out of yyc
This seems absolutely crazy to me. Obviously I’m not an executive, but pulling out of the west seems like a mistake. It’s more than pulling out of Calgary as a city, Calgary is WestJet head quarters. WestJet will be primed for steeling as much market share from AC as they can. I fully expect WJ to ...

It’s a good idea, to re-deploy those aircraft off the lower yield routes and onto more profitable ones. They will funnel more passengers through the three main hubs.

Re: Keewatin PC-24
Did they operate it in winter yet? How do they deice the t-tail for takeoff at out-stations? Same as the King Air 200s, PC-12s, Dash 8s, and ATRs in the area, I assume. So they won't then. I hope the tail of the jet can handle some some contamination as well as those other planes. Well not the ATR,...

Re: Bases and equipment
But all these routes being replaced with mainline equipment, means there are other routes not being flown, as per the memo from AC about YYC flying. They are losing too, they are just working hard to make it appear they aren't. So let it burn I say. AC will be fine. Jazz? Not so much. AC has lots o...

Re: Negotiations
Rudder, I agree that memo was a bit of a nothing burger. But at least it’s better than radio silence. Unfortunately, the pilots are handcuffed by that contract until 2035, so unless there are massive retention issues, there’s no reason for Jazz to revisit wages. It would appear they’re not at this p...
