Re: Ice Pilots ain't got nuttin' on these boys (and girls)
I like it... amazing to see an aviation show without all the needless over dramatized personal conflicts that are apparently necessary to make a show succeed here!

Re: Procedure turn
if there's no point identified as an IF or IAF you have to do the Pt no matter what, even with a GPS. if a procedure turn in imc is challenging you should ask your instructor to give you more training. I was wondering something similar to the OP's question the other day, this quote is what I though...

I've never found a copy of the movie, but this footage from 'Murphy's War' has some pretty intense flying with a Duck..

Re: Turbine job? - 800hrs, 620PIC, 50multi
Haha. I guess I'm gullible I thought you were serious about Subway in your 2nd post. You have enough SE PIC from instructing, now you need MPIC, might as well move on now if you can. Don't forget to apply to places that even look like they're not hiring! I was in your shoes 2 months ago, ~800hrs ins...

Part 7 vs Part 6 CARs
Hate to ask another boring CARs question (currently studying for the A's), but you guys on this board are a great reference. When does Part VII supercede Part VI? For example, reading about Fuel requirement under 704 ops, 704.20 states Part VI applies as well, whereas under 705 Fuel requirements, 70...

Clarification on flight test failures
For the purposes of upgrading from Class 3 to 2, the CARs only speak of more than 3 failures of the last 10 being disqualifying. I have not found a place that states whether the same student can count as more than one recommend. For example, say I had a total of 4 students that I recommended, and 1 ...

Re: MIFR Renewal on Redbird Sim at Cornwall
I'm guessing they fixed the 430/530? When I was there in the summer it was still Redbird's 'simulation' of a 430/530 and a bunch of the features didn't quite work right...

Re: IFR currency question
It doesn't matter if your IFR is current when moving on from instructing. When you do a PPC or PCC you can at the same time renew your IFR and therefore be current. A PPC will make you IFR current for a year so you don't have to worry about 666. Thanks for the heads up, for some reason that part co...

IFR currency question
Currently I'm instructing, and I would like to keep my IFR current. I have the ability to use an approved simulator at work through which myself and another instructor could keep ourselves current (for the 6,6,6 rule). Would this be frowned upon to a future employer? IE two instructors keeping thems...

Re: Weight and Balance... This is an option?
We have a thread on companies that don't require training bonds. Why not to start one on companies that don't intentionally overload? Unfortunately, none of the bad guys can be mentioned on this board - any post or thread that names someone doing something illegal disappears in a matter of minutes....

From pictures on Airliners and Ice Pilots I always thought the 46 had such great visibility, never really considered how odd the sight-picture would be! Interesting thread.

Re: Lost Pilot Log Book - What to do???
Have a look in the CARS. There is a section on statuatory declarations. I misplaced my log book and wrote a statement that said I had ~ total time with x as PIC y dual, etc. You then declare it in front of a notary (I used a lawyer friend of mine) and keep it with your new log book. I eventually fo...
