Re: Keewatin
Except for the fact that Calm Air is granting LOA’s to FO’s that need the PIC to go direct entry cpt on the keweetin king airs You’re missing my point. What I stated was they could spend a few years at Keewatin (or any 703/704) aquire the hours and go to a better 705. Instead of going to calm air f...

Re: Keewatin
Why would anyone go work for keweetin as an FO when a 250 hour pilot can work for Calm Air and make 60k as a year 1 FO? (Not defending Keewatin or their subpar pay at all) Perhaps the opportunity for a quick upgrade, in turn the chance to quickly build the ATPL required hours and then in a few shor...

Re: Jazz or Porter (in terms of commuting out of yul) ?
If Jazz is your choice you shouldn’t concern yourself with the commuting policy really. Chances are if you don’t draw YUL off the bat, you’ll be YUL based by the time you finish training. I don’t need to go into the many reasons why every pilot whose not from Quebec/an East coast commuter tries to a...

Re: CEO pay vs 4 year flat pay.
<Rant on> I refuse to accept the present pay conditions at AC or any company that pegs it's dollar to theirs, which is why I've stuck to my holding pattern where my pay has always continued to increase. I have NEVER taken a paycut for metal. You guys are going to get to 2021, oil will spike, market...

Re: Hilton Honors Points Missing
As I said in my post “to each their own” and I would personally never go back to that. While all those “awesome” layovers stated in this thread might please people, it didn’t do it for me. I personally enjoy spending my rounds golfing with friends, not a co-worker or by myself. A week in “paradise” ...

Re: Hilton Honors Points Missing
Sometimes when walking to my car in the crew lot in -40 weather I think back to days filled with sits in Scottsdale, Vegas, Mexico, etc. and think wtf am I doing? Reading this forum has reminded me why I left corporate and why I’ll never go back. I have friends who love it and to each their own. I’d...

Re: Hanging your hat at Jazz?
I joined Jazz at age 36 and never looked back. Had the opportunity to go to AC but never took it and no regrets with that decision. Best training to be had from a great bunch of guys & gals, mind you I'm sure my instructors went home and had a stiff drink after my training sessions  Now retir...

Re: Jazz or Sunwing ?
You're all missing the point: SR pays $8/hr more than the new contract, which means that Jazz had plenty of room to raise wages and still be competitive for AC's flying. So to all the posters above, why didn't Jazz pilots try to negotiate for a pay scale that's the same as SR's ? With the same bene...
Re: Hiring?
Posted on another thread. Question, I am a 5k driver. All current. ATPL. Out of the game for 5 yrs. Applied to all the majors including Jazz and Encore. Any hope for a guy in his early 50s with good experience and jet time? Is anyone hiring guys like me? Just want to drive until I retire. Held CP, ...

Re: Jazz or Sunwing ?
When a company forces or pressures an employee group into the concessions (a/b scale contract) then also a ultra long term under paid contract, that company surrenders all ability to complain about people leaving. Probably why it’s the Jazz koolaid drinkers doing the complaining and not even the com...

Re: Jazz or Sunwing ?
Jazz is a long way from being a bad company. For those saying "Jazz can suck it," I'd love to hear your aviation background. Evidently, your experience in the industry is pretty limited. Let me guess: 2 years instructing, 6 months 704, then straight to Jazz? You clearly don't know what shitty is. T...

Re: Esop reduction..
We don't vote on the negotiating committee sadly... I'm pretty sure two of them are off to AC now though and I wish them all the best. Allowing representatives to negotiate a record 17 year contract while knowing full well they only had to endure months of set contract. This blows my mind. Not to m...

Re: Advertising on side of commercial aircraft? (R1 DH8)
This probably has nothing to do with advertisement. I’m assuming they have done or will be doing a charter or some work for corporate Acura. I know a few companies who have requested and had similar logos placed on aircraft they have charter for large corporate events.
