Re: A Nice Day on The Hecate Straits

Pre loran/gps, over Butterworth hold 230 for about 20 minutes, if we didn't hit Rose Spit, turn left. Pretty hard to tell the viz when you are out there on a grungy day.
You have some great old photos AP, one of my exes got all of mine:-( I wish I still had them. But it still looks the same up here.

I flew CF-DIZ #460 for 3 years back in the mid 70s. It was also from the Tanzanian Air Force. It had about 1500 hrs on the air frame when purchased.

Jack had a pretty wide range of different aircraft, from a hovercraft, Husky, Twin Pin, C 46 along with the usual C 180 and DHC-2

Re: A Nice day At Kincolith BC

..... Forgotten his name. He's long gone from cancer. In Port Simpson on a drizzle/foggy day. Touched down nose low and it went over, slowly, the pilot had time to cut everyone's shoelaces and get everyone onto the float. "Rupert, Port Simpson, gee, they all look like seagulls on a log!" Nice pictu...

Re: Trident Trigull

I was training at Harrison Airways when it was test flying, it set some climb records for type or something I think. It was a pretty cool looking amphib, but Ben Ginter's Widgeon in that hanger was more interesting to me at the time.

Just a piss poor plagiarism of "the Pilot" starring Cliff Robertson
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Pilot_(film) the book was good also.

Re: Pilot who buzzed Santa Monica Pier - missing in China cr

Imho, waterskiing on tricycle gear is pas possible +1 I don't know how to do that, and I've never heard of anyone else being able to do it. Taildraggers only. Not sure I should mention it in this crowd (which seems ready for a lynching) but none other than Kirby Chambliss, one of the best sticks in...

How are things going these days Bruce? Pretty hectic ., I should have remembered the old adage "be careful what you wish for" I miss the slower pace I had a year ago:-( but forward is progress. As to this. Pelmet wrote: The stupidity once again of flying around VFR in crap weather in mountainous ar...

Re: Air Nootka Beaver missing near Tofino BC - Aug 16 2013

Oh brother, no need to get your hackles up. It's easy to misinterpret and take some comments too personally when an accident hits close to home. I didn't read anywhere that pelmet disparaged the deceased so everyone should take a breath and calm down. He actually makes a valid point about pushing w...

Re: Air Nootka Beaver missing near Tofino BC - Aug 16 2013

Some of the early TSB comments were worrisome to me. Kill switches for the battery before the investigation has started suggests an agenda. And it is probably provoking some of the interested parties. I doubt very much if a "kill switch" would have done much to prevent a post crash fire in a DHC-2....

I watched it the other night. Pretty reminiscent of "the Pilot" written by Robert Davis. Cliff Robertson starred in the movie.

[quote="Meatservo"]Balls. Re: LASIK eye surgery

I had both my eyes done last october at Lasik MD in Vancouver. Advanced custom wavefront lasik. I had to wait 2 months before I could fly and have a couple of followup eye exams and submit them to my TC doctor. I am extremely happy with the results. If you are a candidate for this type of surgery, g...
