CS: As another poster mentioned, you may have to compete with pdw for for that position.
IFP: Given the paragraph context, I hoping you'll find our initially mistaking the "a" to be referring to the jet described in the preceding two sentences forgivable.

Re: Porter Airlines-Off end of Runway
So touching down even 1200 ft down the runway shouldn't be a problem I regularly land a 125 knot (short final) jet on 4,000 feet of pavement and I would never, ever dream of touching down at 1,000 feet down the runway: (Image of jet 1/5ish the size of subject turboprop) Admittedly I don't have beta...

Almost too funny. I just hope none of this is actually coming from a pilot seat.

Re: Best College For Aircraft Maintenance in Canada ?
I hear what robertw is saying about quality of instructors, resources and facilities, etc. Oddly though, I've noticed that a disproportionate number of the more competent and successful AMEs I've worked with and know satisfied the educational requirement for obtaining a licence through completing th...

Re: Please Help me to Choose Between MASTERS and AVIONICS.
Ditto to what cgzro said. I'd buckle down and challenge those 7-9 exams and build on your existing engineering background. There are many opportunities to be had to integrate engineering with hands on work in aviation if that is what interests you. There will be precious little "hands on" for someon...

As if the pilot wasn't feeling bad enough already.

Christian I fully understand your desire to work on your own airplane. I’m a compulsive DIYer myself. I make my living as an AME maintaining aircraft, but generally speaking, if my house, car, truck, computer, bicycle, fence, etc requires maintenance or repair I rarely call in a contractor/tech/mech...

Probably outdated info, but there is an Aviadesign listed in whitepages as:

Re: Walk around
Any airplane that's been sitting outside for that long - and not flying - should be expected to have considerable water in the gas tanks. This is a common problem with old fuel caps. The seals dry up and allow rain to enter the tanks. Look at the caps and see if the seal is old and dried out, or yo...

Re: TSB asked to investigate American mid-air collision
I wondered too, what sort of glidepath a one-winged aircraft would have had. Quite remarkable no matter how you look at it though. " In the crash, Proven was both lucky and skilled: his plane's propeller sustained little damage, which suggests he may have been without engine power and was gliding in...

Re: Porter airlines on the island
Thanks for the post, Troubleshot. It all sounds attractive other than the sizeable pay cut I would have to take as an otherwise experienced ACA AME but without significant Dash-8 time. I guess one would have to expect that to a degree, going from corporate to airline no matter where you're looking. ...

Curious.. why would a posting for an AME position suggest mass exodus or other issues, rather than an opening resulting from normal attrition or company growth?

Re: Porter airlines on the island
Does anyone have anything current to share on Porter with regards to working as an AME at YTZ base? In particular: schedule, training/advancement/ACA, working conditions(subjective, I know) and of course, compensation?
Thanks
Thanks

Re: 450 smoh in 15 years
I haven't kept very current on piston engine work, but I do recall pulling the valve covers, rockers and pushrods, then fishing the lifter/cam follower out so that the cam lobes are in view through the pushrod tubes. I don't believe this is possible on all engine models though.

Re: Internationally recognized passport
I wouldn't say they are targeting non-Canadians for that position, based on the "internationally recognized passport" requirement. A new permanent resident of Canada can not hold a Canadian passport until they obtain citizenship, thus presumably they will be using a passport issued in their country ...

Re: B737 Classic or Kingair, What is your Choice?
If a man is a lion tamer, it matters not, that he used to train horses... Perhaps not, but maybe having faced at least a few rearing horses in his past, the man might be less apt to freeze the first time a lion roars at him. Thinking of the current example of the two apparently straight-to-airline ...
