Re: New hire bids
Wonder if the no-shows looked at the "B" pay scale and figured that and a 2% pay raise is not worth it. It begs the question - how long can you keep offering the lowest starting pay in the 705 sector and expect to attract qualified candidates? As long as flight schools and colleges keep pumping out...

Re: All you underpaid airline pilots...
...a Jazz or Encore FO stuck living in YYZ. I think as we start to see more success stories people are going to be less afraid of the risk and find it easier to get it done. My perception is that the average Jazz/Enc F/O isn't qualified for this job with the PIC requirements that they ask. OTOH, If...

And:
A great wailing and gnashing of teeth was heard coming from the right seat of many airliners, as the F/Os realize that PIC does, indeed, count...1500 TT hours, with at least 750 hours of multi-engine fixed-wing and 500 PIC hours

Re: New North Star Basler Accident (Number 3)
^ I believe that might be the same guy.. I met a great guy - funny jokes, appealing personality, good work ethic - in training many years ago who was vegetized a few years later by an old cowboy captain in a northern crash with very similar circumstances to this accident. Younger/new pilots: Your ca...

How do you define 'productive'? Lots of Wall/Bay St whizzkids out there (Martin Shkreli comes to mind!) who are, imo, a drain on society; the Gordon Lightfoots of this world, on the other hand, will be a great loss...

I'd go even one better, and say no medevacs on the backside of the clock - say, between 0200 and 0500. Everyone can do a late night; everyone can do an early morning, but I do wonder about those 0300 calls...

Foment a pseudo insurrection against a duly elected government, get arrested for doing so, get granted bail, break those bail conditions, *and then* whine about going back to jail??!!

Re: Crew fatigue and grey areas
It's not a grey area. You have an obligation as the captain to remove yourself from duty if you're not fit. End of story. Yes it's tough to do, but it's your ethical and professional obligation. No different than the engineer who's client wants him to sign off on something not safe. That's what one...

Re: So everyone is leaving?
Is it really a bad government, though? What are the metrics for that? How do we shape up compared to the rest of the G7 countries? I honestly don't know, and am asking. Or is this just a reactionary thread run by people who are pissed off about the price of gas and woke signalling? I will concede th...

Re: So everyone is leaving?
Seems to me lots of company’s in the states are drafting Canadian talent. Just heard of two more guys in my circle headed south of the border. I left, y'all can have Trudeau and the s*** hole he created. One could, of course, argue that the 's***hole' was actually created by the opposition parties,...

Re: Mandatory random COVID-19 testing RESUMES!
I'm not sure that I see the sinister conspiracy here? Random selection, complete at home or pharmacy within 24 hours, no suggestion of any sanctions for testing positive, and the government gets info on new strains of C19. I'd argue that since the whole thing was started by travel spread from other ...

I wouldn't be too worried - you're probably 1.5 to 2 years away from the job market, so whatever turbulence comes down the pipe should be done by then..
