Re: Deregulation in Canada
The paper the govt issues was called, "Freedom to Move". Correct me if I am in error bmc but wasn't the pre- deregulation bases on government intervention, in that airlines had to show any planned/new route structures were financially viable as determined by the government agency CTC. Also major Ca...

Re: Canada Jetlines
The people at Jetlines are not rank amateurs Oh please.....you've been drinking too much of their coolaid. Or perhaps your one of the directors? So blinded by your own short sightedness. As was mentioned - the ULCC model will NEVER work in this country. I did have a laugh though when I read through...

Emirates to hire 11,000 in 2015
I was stunned to read Emirates already has 75,000 employees. And, they're looking to hire more.

Look up The Expatriate Group in Calgary and give them a call. Ask for Tom Boleantu. they've been around for years advising Canadians living abroad.

Re: Porter bumps cancer patient going to treatment, compensa
The solution to this is so simple: Make overselling flights illegal. Somebody can correct me on this (I'm sure), but in what other industry can you sell a product that doesn't actually exist? What would happen if promotion companies could oversell concerts or hockey games. It would be the lead news...

Re: Porter bumps cancer patient going to treatment, compensa
Impressive recovery. I challenge any airline, anywhere, to top that. An impressive recovery would be to offer unlimited passes for travel during cancer treatment! They bought a ticket on the flight and deserve the same travel of the other passengers! Maybe the child is doing another five rounds of ...

Re: Beech 18 on floats.
Did I get that right .? Exactly...... What we are doing is quite simple......my friend who I grew up with is a businessman who wants to build a very high class corporate retreat because that is his dream in retirement, he has brought me into the company as a partner who he trusts. The last thing on...

Re: Beech 18 on floats.
My take on this thread is simple. . and his partner have an airworthy Beech 18 parked on a fresh water lake near Nanaimo. They have a chance to put it to good use with minimal cash outlay. They are both aware of the age of the airplane, how turbine is preferential for a myriad of reasons, but don't ...

Re: A380 possibly put to pasture?
It was pointed out on another forum that airlines like the fact they can, very often offload aircraft to 2nd tier airlines....what 2nd tier airline will want used 380s????? It wouldn't surprise me to see Air Berlin snap one up at some point. Plus, if they do stop production and traffic demand incre...

Re: A380 possibly put to pasture?
I think given the traffic projections, the 380 appealed to a number of operators. BA, AF, SQ, QF all operate them now. It makes sense to interview Tim Clark as the largest operator of them. It would be interesting to hear the views of the other operators in terms of operating cost and desire for a n...

Re: A380 possibly put to pasture?
The 777 is what's been killing them for years in the heavy category. Absolutely right. But, the A380 has been the perfect airplane for the few slot constrained, high volume long haul markets. It has low seat cost, enabling airlines to blend a mix of pricing from a number of markets. LHR to/from cer...

Plus fuel prices are coming down, which should impact consumers, stimulate more flying and help these guys launch.
