Re: Flair pilot program
If it doesn't work out, there's always "trusted employer status" and then they'll just bring in TFWs. It'll be fine... no union busting or wage gouging here.

Re: Canadian Registered Ted Smith Aerostar Down in Florida
When would you need it to unfeather in a training scenario? I doubt any instructor or pilot would intentionally shutdown an engine by choice if they weren't sure the plane would fly single engine and were close to an airport. As I mentioned earlier. It might be the only way to verify all airplane s...

Re: Canadian Registered Ted Smith Aerostar Down in Florida
So they aren’t still part of the ME syllabus? Nope, removed some time ago. Doesn't mean that many FTUs and/or instructors during a multi- rating still won't "fail" an engine and then go through the full meal deal feathering and securing procedure. Is it a good idea? That's debatable... Sure, it's n...

But why restrict your topic to this particular group? I guess anyone whom flies "commercially" is a prick, an asshole, and automatically falls under the category of troll - unless proven otherwise. So... does the GA only thing mean that no one with a CPL or above is allowed to comment? Are the "for...

Re: piper pa32 crashed last night near kananaskis village
All things considered, it's not that tight of a valley. The idea of dicking around in the 'Rocks, at nightfall, in WX bordering on solid IFR... yeah that's a hard no. Sure, the WX may have been "better" to the West; but you're going into unforgiving terrain on little more than a wing and a prayer (p...

I've voted no - not that I should be required to state that, let alone justify my vote... Simply put, there's no reason to turn this forum into yet another internet echo chamber; there are already plenty of those out there serving to isolate and fragment user bases. Do I honestly believe a block fun...

Re: piper pa32 crashed last night near kananaskis village
What a sickening waste, absolutely preventable accident. Sometimes people just baffle me with their piss-poor decision making. Trying to heap blame on some nameless instructor, though, is ridiculous. As an instructor, all you can do is try and instil the best possible habits in students; with the ai...

Re: new criminal penalties for labour price fixing and anti poaching
Will these regulations have any more teeth than previous ones, vis-a-vis union busting, blacklisting, etc.? I highly doubt it... mainly because there's no real appetite to actually enforce these laws/regulations.

602.71: The pilot-in-command of an aircraft shall, before commencing a flight, be familiar with the available information that is appropriate to the intended flight.

Re: Maximum of 3 aircraft permitted in Vancouver-area airports!
This isn’t Capitalism at all, BTW. This is the Liberal government ramming in foreign money in any way possible to distract from their failures, bagfuls of cash or otherwise, aviation safety (or lack of housing for everyone) be forgotten. Vote buying at its best, too. You're a bit of a broken record...

Re: Maximum of 3 aircraft permitted in Vancouver-area airports!
Instructors — WTF are you doing authorizing any student to fly in busy airspace and tie up radio time before they can understand and be understood clearly — the first time? Class C or D airspace isn’t the place for ESL lessons. You clearly have never instructed at an FTU with an integrated program,...

Re: Maximum of 3 aircraft permitted in Vancouver-area airports!
I know Vancouver culture well enough to easily believe this. Your opinion is duly noted, resident of the centre of the universe. :prayer: I'm not at all surprised that a lot of the training airports are having to restrict circuit traffic, places like YPK end up with the Montair shitshow and a coupl...

Hey! Who turned off the Accountant? Just another troll, in the long line of them, that has popped up on this site since the early days of the pandemic in 2020. There was that string of troll accounts from the wing suit guy... then the various "named" accounts, etc. Soon enough there will be a new f...

Re: Biennial flight review requirement coming to Canada from 2024
Or, how about scrapping this entirely; as it is in essence just some box ticking exercise and will do little to nothing to enhance safety. Aeroplanes are not falling out of the sky in Canada at an alarming rate, at least not at this very moment. So the idea that additional, and potentially prohibiti...

Re: Night VFR changes - latest proposals as of May 2023
I'm of the opinion both sets of proposed changes are stupid, overly bureaucratic, onerous, and will contribute absolutely nothing to the advancement of safety that hasn't already been accomplished. Better is the enemy of good, is the saying that seems to best sum up these proposals. People, pilots i...

Re: 182 crash at Langley
Latest rumour is both the driver and aircraft passenger are "okay", while the PIC has a fairly serious head injury which is why he was medevac'd. If you look at the photos, two people were extricated and led away from the aircraft prior to the fire taking hold. Kudos to the bystanders at Langley for...
