Re: When to move on
The young pilot starts out, thinking it's all about building hours. He/she'll take whatever crap job, at whatever crap pay seems to justify the end. The middle time pilot puts everything on "hold" to chase the big iron. Family, pride, even self worth take a back seat to the all important jump throu...

Re: Capt Shiv Nath
Anyone out there hear of this guy? He is offering employment and training on the Emb 170 / 737NG. He is trying to recruit people and also asking for an amount of money in order to process the application and security check. I have my opinion on this, but would like to hear from anyone who has recei...

Re: Single pilot multi-IFR operations??
The majority of PA31's flown commercially in Canada have been flown Single Pilot, however many companies are now going 2 crew for a couple reasons; one is to keep clients and insurance companies happy, the other is its cheaper to hire someone for the right seat than it is to fix or replace the auto...

The 3 hour thing was always confused me also.
Can someone break this down in layman's terms?

Re: Float Flying in Australia/South Pacific?
Why would you ask about a float job..and then slag the idea of floats in salt water?? Sounds kinda backwards my friend...but I wish you good luck with your future endeavours. :smt011 -> Geeze - My "slag" comments were about the red baron aircraft on floats - NOT, about the more common floatp...

Re: Float Flying in Australia/South Pacific?
Skybaron, you said: it looks ridiculous. Horrible idea. And I said: I like it, looks like fun to me, but I like nostalgic things, and since all floatplanes used to be biplanes, this one works for me I don't get it, you start a thread asking about seaplane employment in Oz, yet you don't see the bea...

Re: Float Flying in Australia/South Pacific?
[Last time I checked, all floatplanes lose speed and maneuverability, and most lose the "clean" look they had on wheels, so your comment doesn't make much sense. I don't see why maintenance would be more than a comparable aircraft. I like it, looks like fun to me, but I like nostalgic things, and s...

Re: Float Flying in Australia/South Pacific?
Adding floats to that aircraft would be something along the lines of deciding to buy a trike-bike instead of a motorcycle. You lose maneuverability and speed, AND it looks ridiculous. Horrible idea. I could only imagine what their maintenance costs must be on trying to keep corrosion at bay.

Re: Seaplanes in Scotland can't keep a pilot??
HA! Now it all makes sense. I sent the company a rez back in 2008 , and 2 years later they replied back with this: Hi, Thank you for your previous interest in working for Loch Lomond Seaplanes. We are currently updating our employment application database for our 2010 season and we welcome updated r...

Re: Cell phone/MP3 adapter for a Bose headset?
Seems the Zulu support runs deep in this forum. Either way, I'm sticking with a Bose (not because its better, but because I don't intend to spend another $700 so I could listen to my ipod, and talk on a cell while flying). Besides, why buy a new headset when ALL I NEED IS AN ADAPTER FOR AN EXISTING ...

Didn't commit to purchasing any adapter yet, as it hasn't been a top priority - but is still on the radar so to speak.

Re: Maule vs C180 on floats
Great responses - thanks for taking time to give your points of view.
I've only flown the buck-eighty out of the two, but sometimes wondered how the Maule compared. Sounds like the 180 has the edge.
