Re: Former Navy pilot Dale ‘Snort’ Snodgrass dies in crash
The pilot purchased the airplane on April 21, 2021, and it was delivered to him in June by a friend, who was also a flight instructor. The instructor flew with the pilot for the first flight after delivery, during which they performed slow flight, stalls, steep turns, and multiple stop-and-go landi...

Re: Sunwing Airlines Bringing Foreign Pilots This Winter
Sunwing needs to hire approximately 150 pilots to crew for the winter season. This doesn't take into account the fact that many at Sunwing are leaving for Air Canada, Flair, and other opportunities. Significantly, the recent upgrade process at Sunwing for 20 spots magically went all the way to the ...

Re: Missing plane Wawa
My brother just bought the tail-mounted uAvionix transmitter. I'll probably follow suit... (Installing on RVs...) Will that be compatible with the mandated Canadian standard? Looks inexpensive, but not sure it's a fit for the satellite-based ADSB. Flown into the US a few times recently, and skirtin...

Re: Corn Field or Bean Field
If there was a minor ding in your Cessna leading edge, and you flew without repairing it, what argument would TC advance if they wanted to pursue an enforcement action against you you for so doing? They couldn't. The SRM gives guidance for negligible damage. Of course you would need it signed by an...

Re: China Eastern 737 down
Just in.....The second recorder (flight data recorder) has been found. The device, found 1.5 metres (5 feet) beneath the surface of the slope, will be sent to Beijing for checks on Sunday, according to state media. https://www.msn.com/en-ca/news/world/china-finds-second-black-box-of-crashed-plane-st...

Re: China Eastern 737 down
We know part of the aircraft came off either causing the initial upset or happening very shortly after the initial upset. Reference? The 2 videos show a different crash - so I assuming that each video shows a different section of the aircraft - rather than 1 intact aircraft. I've only seen the vide...

Re: China Eastern 737 down
How plausible is it that someone could bomb a Chinese airliner over mainland China? I have never flown there - but I would imagine it would be more difficult than other parts of the world. Don't think I've ever heard of that happening either. We know part of the aircraft came off either causing the ...

Re: China Eastern 737 down
CVR has been found. From Avherald... The captain had accumulated 6,709 flight hours total, the first officer 31,769 flight hours, the second officer 556 hours, all of them in good family relations. The aircraft was in an airworthy condition, all maintenance had been done in strict compliance with re...

Re: China Eastern 737 down
Looking at the drone footage of the crash site, not sure there will be any recorder data. Both Silk air 185 and PSA 1771 were put into vertical dives and exceeded the speed of sound before disintegrating on impact with the ground. The recorders were recovered in both cases. PSA 1771 (BAE 146)... Sh...

Re: China Eastern 737 down
No dive recovery...the speed apparently decreased momentarily at 9000 feet and then climbed back - so maybe some reporter confused the 2 scales. It was probably a glitch in the data due to speed, decent, and terrain. https://www.flightradar24.com/data/flights/mu5735#2b367bc1 discussion of a climb c...

Look at my comments and data above yours. It's all spotty information that is comming out, probably none of it should be trusted yet at this point. Agreed there. But the bit about the level off and climb came from a Bloomberg article posted earlier today. I linked it above

Re: China Eastern 737 down
I dont know where this info is coming from about a short climb - I find that impossible. I had a look at the flight radar data and it shows no climb. Diving near vertical is going to very quickly exceed VNE and shortly thereafter the vertical and horizontal stabs are going to come off the airplane. ...

Re: Sunwing/Westjet
it’s WestJet that bought Sunwing and not Onex Yea - on paper. Westjet doesn't have 2 nickels to rub together just like every other airline in this country. The money and approval for shares transfer came from Onex, If you think GS had no part in this - I have an iceberg to sell you... They would al...

China Eastern 737 down
A China Eastern 737 just crashed into a mountainside in southern China with 123 passengers and 9 crew. Reports say it's a 2015 737-800, although that information is currently being reported as being taken from Flightradar24 and not official sources. Flightradar is usually pretty accurate which I hop...

Re: Sunwing/Westjet
Good joke. Mind you Sunwing already used 326.7 m$ out of 448.3m$ approved by the LEEFF program... Still hasnt pay back any of this loan. Sunwing paint job will eventually disappear once the dust settles and the deal is approved. Haha...OK, because you know so much of the situation. We'll just agree...
