Re: Renewing Expired Flight Instructor Rating

I want to renew mine but also don't want to spend 1000$ + (I got quoted 600 for just the ride...) and not have a gig lined up. But I also emailed several places and got told no. There's no a surplus of instructors, how things change Yea. A buddy of mine did the math, he was better off staying on EI...

Re: Renewing Expired Flight Instructor Rating

I can't even get FTUs to call me back when I want to book recurrent Instructor training. Business must be good. I know almost a dozen instructors in the YEG area that are either current and want a job or not current and wanna get back into it. Unless you are buddy buddy with a Class 1 good luck fin...

The shaper edge and use of the FIG and Flight Test guides, your good to go.

Everything has been done in PDF format, I've never sent any paper at all and never walked in a TC office.
How many pages of your log book did you have to send in?
Last I heard you send in everything.

Re: WJ calls in the Swat Team on Maskless Toddler

When they say zero tolerance its ZERO tolerance. For some reason people seem to forget this. The passenger is probably lying through his teeth about how it all came to be. Id bet the crew has a much different view of the incident then what the news is reporting from the passengers perspective. Hes s...

As others have said not at all. Learn from it and keep going. I know tons of people who partial TC exams especially the CPL.

Re: ATPL Application process tips

Was talking with my TC flight school inspector two weeks ago. I brought up the ATPL application and he told me you should only be logging IFR time when your actually in IMC not just because you file IFR. Anyone heard of this before?

Re: Advice PPL student off to MRU

Provided he is the type of student that will continue to fly regulatory and get his CPL hammered out MRU is a waste. A BA in basket weaving is good enough. If was in your student’s shoes and had the cash in hand. I’d be flying every moment and just the CPL signed off. With COVID maybe slow down a t...

Re: Advice PPL student off to MRU

As an MRU graduate, as much as I thought highly of the program, I think he's wasting his money. If he has the degree, he's already ticked the post-secondary box. I think things changed recently, but it was something like 250/hr for a 172 (solo) at MRU and 700 something for the multi, which is a tad...

Re: What's in the briefings?

Well Flight Student, consider a few realities: Everyone who responds to your request to provide a service should feel compensated for what they provide to you. Indeed, when you sit a restaurant, you usually voluntarily pay more than the stated price for your meal. So paying the asking price for an ...

Flight_Student wrote: Sat Aug 01, 2020 7:26 pm Thanks, that's a good estimate indeed. And, just to understand, this is all apart from the hours spent on ground school?
Yes. Typically Ground Schools are flat rate. FYI. Ground Breif for flights isn't. At least at the school I teach at.

Re: Blue Bird in Hot Water

There is not a single flight school in the entire country that “quotes” for anything other than the bare are minimum hours. There is at least one. We quote for our average completion time of 67 hours. Maybe why we are called “too expensive.” Quoting the bare minimum is a bit disingenuous if almost ...

Re: What's in the briefings?

That's a good comparison. But then how many hours of briefing should I budget for realistically? 10 sounds too little. And yes, I will be asking this the flight schools as well, but it helps to hear other people's experience with it. On our FTUs member forms we say around 20-25 hrs of breif. Thats ...

Re: What's in the briefings?

You brief before every flight. If its a new item for a decent time to fully understand the air item. Good briefs on the ground translate to good performance in the air. Your gonna find the first few flights you spend a good chunk of the time on the ground and as you go on that time on the ground get...
