Re: Living in Barrie, Working at YYZ
Barrie and the surrounding areas are starting to get $$$$ now. Most people like yourself have the same idea as you. We moved to Barrie in 2015 from the GTA. Too be honest, we weren't really enthusiastic about moving here, but we wanted a bigger house for our growing family. Barrie has grown on us ov...

Re: The Technological Future of the Profession
I actually think this is an interesting topic Ray. You’ve stirred the pot. Naturally, most of us are very defensive about this topic. Like we didn’t already have a million other threats to our WAWCON’s? I’m getting close to 40. If I was a gambling man, I’d say I would still be sharing a flight deck ...

Re: Christen Eagle II or an RV14A??
There’s an Eagle in Western Canada that has been for sale for a while. I’ve seen it on Barnstormer’s and various facebook groups. I haven’t see it personally, but it looks to be in really good condition from the pictures. The owner is well known in the aerobatic/building community and he looks like ...

Re: Interest in US airline positions
Some of the attitudes on this thread are interesting. The self righteous attitude is actually shocking. I’ve been fortunate enough to still be flying all over the world during this pandemic. Canada and Canadian’s in general are a joke. Delusional. You can’t even compare the pay, lifestyle, tax ect t...

Pitts S1 Project
Anyone happen to know of any Pitts S1 projects sitting in the back of a hangar somewhere? Any condition. C, D, S, T ect. Lots of projects in the states but hard to find up here in Canada?

Re: The Return to Normal?
This recovery, or not, will be driven by our Governments response. Full stop. Six months of this virus has given us enough knowledge to formulate a plan that DOESN"T continue locking down the healthy. The healthy and young are not at risk. Yes they can absolutely spread it, but if those they spread...

Personally I'd trade having it for two weeks rather than lose my house.
Just my opinion though.

Re: Coronavirus Numbers
Reported numbers and mortality rates are USELESS. They are only good at causing enough concern to self isolate as to not overload the medical system. Hundreds of thousands have probably already had it, but were not tested. Mortality rates are only a factor of those "known" with this Flu bug. Since ...

Love avcanada. The industry is crumbling around us and we're too busy berating some 23 year old Jazz kid for calling his old man cheap.

Hey guys and gals Not sure if I am in the correct thread, have an interview with AC next week, wondering if anyone here can throw some tips on it, what kind of questions, how long is the interview?, any technical stuff? are they all" tell me about a time" type questions etc, etc. Any help / advice ...

Re: Grab a seat. The music is stopping
There have been and will continue to be massive financial losses. Not just for airlines. It's no secret that airlines have razor-thin margins and the supply chain is global, thus vulnerable. But Flybe is a non-sequitur, they should have folded much sooner. It's true this is worse than the flu - alt...

Don't try and predict anything. This past summer I was called 1 week after my interview, to start PIT 2 weeks later. OTS. The girls in HR are very warm, welcoming and professional btw.

Re: Regional Career
The last few PIT courses were mostly Jazz....so yeah not many 35-50 year olds. Lots of OTS older guys have been hired this year. My summer PIT course was a mix. Early 20’s to mid 50’s. Many of us were in our 30’s; coming from overseas, military or other Canadian airlines. I’m not on the hiring team....

Re: The Air Canada OTS thread
Flat pay is crap. Not doubt about it. As a new hire, I think altiplano’s posts are pretty accurate. I think he paints a pretty realistic picture of what an average new hire could expect. Actually, if you’re fortunate to get Rouge 767 out of GS or transfer into Rouge on the 319 or 767, you’ll actuall...

The weakness of western democracies could not be more evident than this election. No substance or fresh ideas. Nothing but manufactured politically correct bullshit. A polarising mainstream media bereft of any real journalism, driven by clicks and sensationalism. But who cares when no one reads bey...
