Re: Full flap landing rquired
I have no problem judging the descent to the runway without the PAPI. I've never flown one at any of the airports in the years I've been flying in BC until recently, I'm guessing a year, that Pitt got a PAPI. I find flying the PAPI is good training to fly more precise staying on the glideslope it ta...

Re: Full flap landing rquired
I don't understand what a PAPI is for if you don't use it. Several months ago when doing night training my instructor was very specific fly the PAPI correctly. It's very odd at 500 agl to drop to 40° and "push" the thing to the runway

Full flap landing rquired
So I hadn't flown in 7 mos and started some commercial training today in the 172. After doing a 20° flap landing on some circuits I was told by my instructor that now transport or the examiners want all landings to be done full flap. This is in the lower mainland BC. What gives

Re: Mountain checkout
I fly in bc but I don't think this will qualify for the cross country as the flight is 3.5 hours but not a distance of 300 nm from departure airport

Class 1 medical for cpl training
Do you need a class 1 medical to do cpl training including solos if you have a class 3. Again I'm asking about trading only, I know you need it for the license

Vancouver tc says they have dealt with it before. I don't know how medical is to be worded for solo. Just seeing if someone else has dealt with this issue

Re: Aircraft checkout who logs pic
So if you're a licensed pilot you should get the pic. You're not receiving instruction, they're asking you to perform manoeuvres to show that you can fly the aircraft correctly. But it still isn't clear. I didn't know 2 could log pic in aircraft in usa.

Re: Understanding us charts
Yeah got it. I was having trouble with the ceiling of class d since it was on the box. Canadian charts are easier to read and have the frequencies right there on the airspace altitudes
