Re: The challenges for us all in flying green
Is there any real reason that planes couldn't be towed to and from the runway? Convenience, sure, and who wants to buy all those extra tugs? I suppose you could go all the way and tow the GPU and air cart along with the plane. Run electrified tracks in the taxiway and use electric tugs, electric gr...

Re: Jazz to launch pay for type rating program
Has anyone ever heard of an electrician or plumber who has had to pay that kind of money to get their first job right out of trade school? I just wondered. You might say they don't make as much as a pilot but actually they probably make more.

Re: Jazz to launch pay for type rating program
Only rich kids will sign up for this, which means Jazz is in it for the money and not quality of candidates. Definitely lost respect for Jazz. I don't know if I would give my kid $126k to get a $40k a year job, sounds like a pretty terrible offer. You'd be better off sending your kid to trade schoo...

I have a cat 1 and I'm over 40, I'm not flying commercial anymore but I'm maintaining it as a cat 1 in case I want to go back. I can just get mine renewed every 2nd year if I only fly privately, therefore I only get the cardiogram every 2nd year. If I go back to commercial flying then I have to have...

It's like your kid wanting to do math in their head because they want to stay sharp and you saying no, use the calculator, it's more accurate. I haven't met many people that are better than the computer. Case in point from one man's observation-There's a stack of flight logs that show up on the CP'...

Well thanks for trying to explain it. The whole process seems vague and confusing. DNM to me sounds like "did not meet" doesn't seem good anyway

Re: Updated MCAS ‘Safe’ Says MAX Technical Team
Different companies have different ways that they utilize the sim time, I'll give you that point. I disagree-twice per year comes around quickly. The sim should be a tool to keep you sharp, not bring you back from regression. It should never be difficult to follow the cue with the AP off anyhow. Al...

Re: Updated MCAS ‘Safe’ Says MAX Technical Team
Sims are highly structured and time compressed scripts. There's no time or money for proficiency flying in the Sim.Even if there were, twice a year isn't enough to be proficient. Different companies have different ways that they utilize the sim time, I'll give you that point. I disagree-twice per y...

Re: Hangars for sale.
That's how it should be. People are supposed to have a pilots licence or airport pass (or be with someone that has one) to be on the airport property at YYJ, an international airport with more than 1 million passengers a year, but they don't seem to care about all the hot rod guys coming and going, ...

Pardon my dissent, but we are paid to fly accurately and with as much situational awareness advantage as possible. Your passengers aren't paying for you to practice hand flying beyond what's necessary to complete the flight. Rent a 172 or book a sim slot. I'd bet the passengers would disagree with ...

Re: A Field Guide to NOTAMs
How about Nav Canada make something easy for a change and provide a clickable link in the notam box on their flight planning page to the new notam site, instead of having it still let you enter the airport you want notams for and just going to a notam that says there is no more notams here. But shit...

We all need to simply phone our FIC and ask for just notams for our route they'll get so backlogged with calls they'll be forced to change.

Of course it works out, the military is funded by endless tax dollars. Cost and time to train pilots is not important. I should have said "taxpayers loss" not the military's loss in my above post

They will recruit someone with 0 flight experience and a university degree over a experienced civilian pilot with 10'000 hours and no university degree. Their loss I guess.

But that's not carbon neutral... it's still burning. Biofuels largely waste cultivatable land and water to produce in a period of scarcity of both. And that land is seen as much more valuable to produce cookie cutter subdivisions to house the human breeder's offspring when it's time for them move o...
