Re: Whatsapp group: Porter 2022 hiring updates
Is this an official group ? No, it seems that a new user posted the same in multiple forums. I wouldn't open that link with a ten foot pole. If you want official information, get talking to someone that actually works for Porter, and bonus if they're actually in management and/or the training depar...

Re: Porter hanger in YOW
If there was truth to that rumor, where would they put it? South side of the airport is being used for Snow Removal and Medevac Ops. Northwest side is being used for De-Icing and Dignitaries/VIP's. East side along hangar row is crowded enough as it is, and the "bridge" isn't likely to support the we...

Re: IAP profile views, Left or Right
Looking at the CAP GEN would have been my first inclination, i.e., decoding of the Profile View in the General Approach Chart section. (Page 66 in the Jan 2022-May 2022 edition). It states: "The profile view is oriented on the chart to the predominant direction of the approach procedure". I did, how...

Hers' my personal experience, granted that the average in our 705 hovers around 600, 703/704 was Charter/Scheduled Service 2008 - 690 (703 FO) 2009 - 970 (703 & 704 FO) 2010 - 995 (704 FO) 2011 - 875 (703 & 704 CA) 2012 - 940 (704 CA) 2013 - 555 (705 FO) 2014 - 595 (705 FO) 2015 - 865 (705 FO) 2016 ...

Re: Porter receiving E195-E2?
In addition to the years of service salary increases, does Porter also get yearly raises for COLA(cost of living/inflation) of at least 2% like most airlines? Used to be the average of the last 10 years CPI. The Pilot group did get "COLA" bumps pre-covid; 2018/2019/2020, all under 2% (1.64 /1.57 / ...

Re: Porter receiving E195-E2?
This is not apples to apples…lifestyle, schedule, company culture, upgrade speed and or better position on the list, staff travel, commuting policy, RRSP matching rate….. Correct! Salary plays a role in the overall compensation package. And in aviation, nothing truly, is apples to apples. The trick...

Re: Porter receiving E195-E2?
Let's not forget that everyone company wide is going from 85 credits/mo to 80. Paycuts for all! Look at the hourly rates, they've increased. Playing devil's advocate here, but it seems that those cuts *may* motivate those qualified DH8 FO's to take a Captain's spot sooner rather than lat...

Re: Porter receiving E195-E2?
AFAIK, they did honor some YOS, but it's a very select few (31 Captains), about 10% of the pilot group that will start a little higher. (13 on Year 3, 18 on Year 2). From what I hear, it's a very sore point amongst the pilot group that someone who has been with Porter for almost 10 years will start ...

More than Flair and Swoop, less than Sunwing and AirTransat; both for CA & FO
AFAIK, Swoop only has a 3 years scale

Re: Porter receiving E195-E2?
Pay Scales for the E2 have been released to the pilot group at Porter. Management has asked to keep it private and confidential.
For those outside wondering, it's comparable to other (Flair, Sunwing, Swoop) Canadian 737 operators.

From a colleague, new hires, mostly internal recommends, with a few that have yet to be offered: 14 in Jan, 18 in Feb, 18 in Mar, 18 scheduled in early May and another 18 late May. Anyone who has interviewed will get a response, but it maybe delayed (up to a month) due to ramping up operations, hire...

Re: Porter Airlines shifts restart of flights date to June 29
From what I've heard ... Once the "green light" is pushed on the official restart date, 8 weeks prior is when the ball will get rolling. Porter has stated that the restart will depend on border restrictions, vaccinations, and market demand. So IF Porter plans on restarting at the end of July, then n...

Re: Porter Airlines shifts restart of flights date to June 29
As much as I like the airline, I certainly won't be booking anything with them anytime soon. Not until they're actually flying again . At this point, they've proven that their restart dates simply cannot be trusted. I'd hate to see them go, but constantly shifting the goalposts like this is serious...

Re: Porter Cancelling CEWS and Health Benefits: UNIFOR
Did the pilots agree to the change or was it just decided for them? tl:dr - Decided for them! As mentioned, Porter Pilots aren't unionized, however they do have a Flight Operations Administrative Guide (FOAG). It's a 'terms and conditions' that governs how they do do scheduling, including policies ...

Re: Porter Cancelling CEWS and Health Benefits: UNIFOR
I didn't know that Porter was unionized. What employee group is represented by Unifor? Unifor represents the Customer Service Representatives/Ambassadore (CSR/CSA) and Ramp/Baggage Handlers Pilot are not unionized. Company memo went out in early December stating, game plan was to restart in the spr...

Re: Porter Airlines shifts restart of flights date to June 29
Is there any actual news about Porter? They're supposed to resume flying on the 11th of February - they must be at least conducting the odd town hall or two by now... Management has been doing weekly calls since the start of the pandemic, with a recent switch to every other week. Next one is schedu...
