Re: Globe article about Lynx and ULCC market in Canada
Spirit and Frontier just announced a merger down in the States. Most likely that’s gonna happen here in Canada with the ULCCs at some point. Isn’t that the ultimate goal of all these start up investors? Be just “good enough” to get bought. It doesn’t matter what carnage is left behind for the emplo...

Apparently if you are from Australia you can work for breeze. https://www.businessinsider.com/breeze-airways-raising-pilot-pay-and-hiring-australian-pilots-shortage-2022-1 The airline industry is returning to normal, and that means once again contending with a global shortage of pilots. How many tails did JetsGo have when they closed the doors?
Yeah, go big or go bust. It could have gone JetsGo but it hasn't yet.“In the fall we were completely insolvent, and they were going to go and sign on these contracts for these planes.”

Re: Flair Hiring B737 FO's
Is there a maximum age limit for pilots (CAPT/FO) being hired? I've met at least one new hire who was approaching forced retirement/ seat change at their old airline, 68th birthday is the CBA limit for the left seat right now. How is the company accommodating the >65 with their flights increasing i...

Re: More Trouble in Paradise....
Government money ain’t cheap. That’s why WestJet didn’t take a dime. I recall them using CERB for active and furloughed pilots alike. They did, but those didn’t have any strings attached like seats on the board or share ownership or loans attached. I believe that is what he is referring to.

Overall the interview felt more like an advertisement then a true interview.
I don’t know the host, but he sure seemed to be sending softball questions to me.

Re: First Max
Flair CEO was just on CKNW radio in Vancouver (Sunday morning) talking about how he will get foreign pilots with 20-25000 hours coming to work for him. I think he said from the US.  He said that they are getting half their pilots from Canada and half from overseas. That most have 20...

I wonder where the freighters will come from? Will they be new aircraft for WestJet or perhaps conversions of already owned Aircraft? https://www.theglobeandmail.com/business/article-westjet-launching-cargo-division-to-meet-demand-for-air-freight-amid/ The company is working with lessors to lease t...

Re: Competing Union
I certainly believe the next years could be rough.
This could assist in softening some of the hits though. Time will tell if the company or our own pilots are our worst enemy though.

My prediction is WestJet pilots will repeat the FedEx lost decade, but only do it better, and make it 15 years.

Since October’s pilot list update I have moved up 4 spots.
Not sure what caused them to leave but 4 have in possibly 2 months.

Am I reading this correctly, Delta and Westjet have withdrawn their application for a JV ? https://www.regulations.gov/document?D=DOT-OST-2018-0154-0056 That is correct. I’ve read the full reply to DOT and the 3 main points are - LGA slot sale, Swoop carve out and Interline requirement. They state ...

I’d say from what I am hearing was about 50-75 in YYC & YVR. YYZ maybe around 100.
