Re: Job Posting!
So I updated my application from about 3.5 years ago. Does the HR department get some kind of notification that I have updated my application? Or should I submit a new application?

Re: Shoe recommendation
Check out boot number 14333. They're the best boots I've ever owned. There's no liner, so you have to wear wool socks if you're wearing them in the freezing cold. They're made in Winnipeg. They're sized quite large. I'm normally a size 10, but the size 8 of this boot fits me perfectly. https://www.c...

I mean....Even a go-around counts as an "incident" these days, and a CADOR is filed.

Re: Will this industry ever recover?
I think once everyone is recalled to the airlines, hiring is going to be through the roof again. Just looking at how busy things are getting at the airlines, I think it's a positive sign. As long as the world doesn't get shut down again. That "as long as" bit is difficult. The term COVID-22 is alre...

Re: Angle of Bank in Climbing Turns
I guess one thing too to consider is the fact that the vertical component of lift is decreased when the wings are banked. So at a given airspeed in the climb, you won't be able to climb at as high a rate when you're in a turn, and it gets more pronounced the steeper the bank angle. I could see that ...

Re: Dr. Lower Passed Away - Thunder Bay
Sad news. I have a very similar story to the OP. My first medical in 2007, I asked if he takes credit/debit. No, cash/cheque only. No problem, I'll get some money from the ATM. He said "how much do you have in your wallet?" I told him $20. He said "you only have $20 in your wallet? I can't take your...

Re: Post-Covid 19 Aviation Industry?
It's really impossible to predict. I started my training in 2007, and when I finished my CPL in 2009, it seemed like the prospect of ever working for an airline would be an impossible task. Now, I'm going through being laid off (like many other pilots) 11 years after completing my CPL. I still would...

Re: Encore Recalls
They just changed it to 47 recalls. I believe that puts Encore at 339 active pilots and 203 still on furlough. MMG pre-covid was 75 hours. Encore pilots still have the 10%ESP suspended at the moment as well though.

Encore Recalls
Recalling 30 pilots for Oct 1st, and MMG going to 70 hrs for the month of October.....A step in the right direction at least.

Exactly. Dude, you have no idea if other people’s financial circumstances. Maybe the are paying for a very sick parents old folks home bills. Maybe their spouse has a business that is losing thousands of dollars a month. Perhaps their kids need an expensive medication that isn’t covered. All of whic...

Re: New Bottom Feeder's
Obviously not the popular opinion here, but I don't think anyone should be doing OT while their colleagues are laid off. In other industries, if you were to pick up OT while your coworkers were laid off, you would not be looked at favourably by your peers. Pilots are different though for some reason...

Re: A mom to a child here. Needed some info
I didn't read every reply, so forgive me if I'm repetitive. My opinion may be biased, as I went to Confederation College, but I do really think going to an aviation college is a great way to go. The flight training costs are government subsidized if you go to certain aviation colleges. I graduated i...

Re: Swoop moves to YYZ
Swoop can only grow to 30 aircraft max. Only 6 aircraft for the duration of MOA 3. What am I missing? The pink scourge continues to grow. Who cares? People wanted a cheaper travel option and they got it. Reminds me of how book publishers bitched about the kindle I'm sure it's just a matter of time b...

Re: WS/WO Layoff Mitigation Agreement
That news had not been released at the time I posted this update. All I knew at the time I posted this update was that Swoop was capped at 6 aircraft for the duration of the MOA. In any case, I agree, this is brutal. MOA 3 has been voted in, and goes to March 31st with no further layoffs until then....

So, the new CEWS information is pretty confusing to me. So basically after August 29th, the CEWS payments for furloughed employees will just be equal to EI/CERB?

Re: Working while on CEWS
I definitely understand the perspective that it could be morally wrong to work another job at full wages while double dipping into the CEWS. Here's one other perspective though. If you've been furloughed and put on CEWS by your main employer, having no clue if/when recalls will happen, whether or no...

Re: What is "lift"?
Sorry, I didn't read every reply here, so my apologies if this has already been mentioned. It also depends on aircraft type. A multi engine propeller aircraft definitely has a lower angle of attack with climb power while maintaining the same airspeed as was maintained while level before starting the...
